Did you ever think they done you good? I find people take them far to serious rather than as an opinion that needs testing..and put into the right context to elicit the right emotional response for the right audience. I am not saying I don't read things...but down the lines of neuro science & the behavioral sciences (haha suggestion) where your own theories arise based on the different situation each campaign puts you in. That said I don't have a problem finding traffic, the only problem is finding international offers to increase margins...since I am a CPM buying man ;-)

Google Sniper is a good ebook that comes with shit loads of videos. I would recommend it.

I think you should teach yourself and learn on the road, you'll have your own tactics

its not easy, especially in the begining. you can make good money in it but its not easy. People who say its easy either got really really lucky or had a lot of related experience to start with.
