Is it possible to remotely run/sponsor a food drive?

Here's my idea. Sponsor a nationwide food drive through my website. I'd like to setup "accounts" with each of the major food pantries around the country so that whenever some donates food, they could donate in the name of my website and it would count toward the total food risen.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Not exactly sure how you'd like to go about it but maybe find something like this for the US and get in touch with them: CanadaHelps - Make a Donation

"CanadaHelps, a public charitable foundation (896568417RR0001), is Canada's only donation portal that provides access to all of Canada's 80,000 charities, from national organizations like national cancer charities to smaller groups like local animal shelters and soup kitchens."

Edit: re-read your post again, might not be exactly what you're looking for :/

Its close but I think since Im dealing with teenagers, it would be easier for them to steal some food from their kitchen and donate it then for them to donate money online. Plus, there are a lot more photo ops for them going to a food pantry than donating money online :)

Sounds tricky to track the food really. The best idea I would have is to use some affiliate tracking software like hasoffers.com for free and maybe get a report from the food bank somehow on how much they donated and you could credit it manually. Then the schools or group of teenagers could login to see their results and you could be posting reports and such. I would be worried about kids boosting their numbers somehow and things like that. Good luck though with it if you can get it off the ground.
