Is it pure luck that an offer converts consistently?

It seems like the offers I've ran don't convert as consistently as I'd like it to.

Is it pure luck that you guys stumble upon an offer that converts consistently?

You have to run something for a while to see the offers true consistency...there are all sorts of variables like day of the week/time of day and other external factors like holidays etc that can and do affect conversion rates. You will have peaks and troughs but over a week or two you should see a truer reflection. It would be difficult to judge something fully if you've only run it for a couple of days and put like 100 clicks through it.

Agreed with Edward....

I've found you need more than a week or two to get a good feeling for "consistency".

I know personally I like to promote a lot of offers that are targeting people suffering in the current economy (think free stuff, job info, making $$ info) and I generally see a huge variety in conversions when looking at a day by day conversion rate.

However when I step back after 1-2 months and look at the averages they are suually much more consistent.

A massive snowstorm in the North East will affect you conversions. Oprah talking about how to save a couple bucks or how to "look young" will affect your conversions. Stuff normally all balances out.

Also: look for an inflow of new competitors on your keywords - or some dropping out.

Things never are going to be 100% consistent.

There is always trends which more or less give you a general idea.

For example, weekends convert less for some offers but more on others.

Jan - feb is slower months for some niches.

Etc, etc, etc.

Never use time as a variable to determine success in online marketing

someone could send 100 hits in a week to an offer and someone else can send 10k in one day..

No, it's just the demographics and people you are specifically targeting that gets the offer to convert consistantly.
