Is selling on craigslist and ebay THIS easy?

My buddy buys/sells vintage motorcycles, makes 6 figs a year, most of it all cash so it's off the books. Uses CL and eBay exclusively. He's fucking killing it. You could do the same thing with any other type of valuable item just make sure the margins are good and there's demand and you're golden. Easier said than done though, of course.

I have a guy that lives by me in a decent house. All he does is drive around with his truck, pick up scrap metal such as ovens, dryers, etc, all broken and free. Makes around 50-200 a day. It won't make you insanely rich but it could work.

Hey just salvages the scrap metal from the stuff he finds and makes 50-$200 daily?! Holy cow didn't think it would be that profitable...

Its trading . You buy low and sell high . you can scale it up anytime . thats what all Fortune 500 companies do . Buy low , sell high .

It's a shady world out there, but I'm thinking someone might be ok selling a crusty toaster that they found in a garbage can.

You really would think so wouldn't you haha!
Breaking news: "Body found, all the police know thus far is that it seems he was trying to sell a used toaster. Detectives think this poor man must have been desperate for money to pay off internet loan sharks"

Stay safe...

I made over $900 in one month by selling stuff off of CL. Seriously, it's so easy that I was picking stuff up from the free section and selling it hours later..

Don't doubt CL! Maybe it depends on your location but I live in a really nice area and people have money here so it's not difficult for me.

I realize if you're going to be listing lots of items, you can't spend time writing "copy" for each one, but you can definitely improve these ads. More info, more pictures, suggest a placement or use for the item. People buy shit because it will DO something for them, and sometimes they need to be TOLD what it will DO for them, because they are fucking stupid animals.

"Vintage" is a weak way to express the concept of age/implied value. Tell them you found it when you were "cleaning out your grandmother's attic", and you have "no idea what it's worth, but it needs to go", I'm saying you should be deceptive in your ads, but you can absolutely find ways to get your point across creatively.

The majority of my items don't have a UPC code, so a lot of times I am left clueless on the details of the item and what keywords I should include in my ad.

Is there a way to bulk post?

I never personally try that. But my friend told me that selling on craiglist is not as easy as it seems.
Sure for those that are living in US, canada and those big city, it is easier. You can make some money here and there. But for those living in small cities, it is harder to sell out of your country. Cos you need good proxies, change IP address all sort. Craiglist has very good IT,and technology to stop spammer from spamming. Unless you have a lot of money to spend to beat their spam filter, it is not advisable.

But I have heard many good things about ebay. My friends told me they sell well there.

Craigslist can be fun if you're selling low-priced items, but I'd imagine it would be a headache if you're selling items that are $50+, because you'll always end up with someone who isn't happy.

My brother makes an extra $100+ a week selling sports equipment that he's picked up at thrift stores. He probably spends about $10 or so, and he enjoys it, it's something that he does on Saturdays for fun. An extra hundred bucks a week isn't much, but if you enjoy it, that's not bad at all. He's very frugal too. His work pays for his car, insurance, cell, etc, and every bit of extra money that he gets he puts towards his mortgage. He bought a $300,000 house about six or seven years ago, and has almost paid it off in full.

Tobias Funke, you mean your brother earn few hundred bucks a week and is able to pay his $300,000 house?

no it's not easy like that you said, it's bit difficult to sell anything on Craigslist because your ads may get flagged in few minutes, if you didn't use Geo US IP's, Verizon phone verified accounts, quality content/image for ads and Ccleaner to clear cookies.

Here is what I have in mind:

On each sequential garbage day, I'll go around peoples houses and pick up the items on the curb that they throw away from their trash.

Along with the bad items, I often find good quality cds, printers, computers that still work, chairs that are in good shape, and many other things. Yet people still throw them away. God shameful America!

So here is the fun part:

I was thinking about turning around and selling these items for cash on craigslist or ebay.

Do you just post your item and give it a description, choose pricing, and select how you want to ship and wallah, your item is now available to be seen by lots of people(especially in your local area)?

No social media, social bookmarking, or website store required for Craigslist? Within hours of posting, you could have a sale in no time?

Is it really this easy for making a sale?
And, I can see how this idea would work for someone who is not interested in the internet marketing game. After all, selling stuff like this is small time business. And, you don't need any special marketing skills to make it work. Just find something via rummage sale or at the trash bin and recycle it (clean it up, etc) and resale on eBay or Craigslist. I've even read how some people will buy iphones on Ebay and then resell on Craigslist for double. So that's another workable idea you could put into action.
