Is this a good deal?

I'm looking to advertise my site and found another site selling simple text links in their right menu. They are a reputable site and sell them for about $1500/month. The link would be featured on about 3000 different pages w/ roughly 40 million page views per month. The links are nofollow, but I'm more interested in this site as a potential new traffic source as opposed to increasing my PR.
I would be mixed in with about 7-8 other links in the right menu.

Looking for thoughts/opinions.

I don't think you'll get much traffic from text link.

Offer them $500 and go from there, always lowball and hustle.

Yeah offer like double if they were to allow you to test for one day. say 100$ , i doubt they'll reject if you offer more.
