There is always a first time...

Google banned one of my sites. Or so I think. It dropped off the radar on google search.

Now I wonder:

1. Would they ban my other sites on the same webserver ( i figure not)
2. How fast do they unban if you correct your offense?

first, check to see if you're still indexed by googling:
site:yourdomain.com

If nothing shows, then you're likely banned. Either buy a new domain and start from scratch, or file one of those reinclusion request thingies that apparently take months to go into effect. Option A is usually better considering domains don't really cost much these days.

check your traffic... see how much it drops before you go shopping. You have yahoo, MSN, social networking sites and the whole web to bring you traffic before throwing in the towel.

With enough effort you create enough traffic from "elsewhere". Don't be g-dependent.

Yeah, be sure that you're actually banned (i.e. de-indexed), rather than stuck way the fuck in the back of the SERPs. (use the site: modifier in your search like nickycakes suggested)

If it's a new domain and you link building has been non-existent, uneven, or haphazard, I think it's pretty normal to bounce around the rankings a lot.

My main site right now is only a few months old and it will routinely go from ranking #4 to #200 for my main keyword from one day to the next. I had an explosion of backlinks (relatively speaking) a couple weeks back and dropped out of the SERPs altogether but was still indexed. Added fresh content and a few more natural links and was right back where I had been before after about a week.

Oh and if you're truly banned, just get shitload of links, doesn't matter how spammy, and you'll start ranking high in MSN/Live.
