Sup yall.
This site was the first site I built so I was a bit naive and most of my pages have keyword density in the 3 to 5.5 % range for their target phrase. I've noticed that when I build links (only 3 or 4 quality links at a time, only branded and generic anchors) that the higher the keyword density of the page is for its target term, the more sensitive it is to these new links... and the less stable they seem to be in the serps over all.
Ranking #5, build a few solid links to the page, then bounce around from page 10 to page 3 for the next month or 2... Yet on a page with less keyword density I'll build 3 or 4 solid links, bounce around for a week then come back stronger.
So my question is...
Is it too late to fix the keyword density of the pages that are over-optimized? Does this just send a "I'm guilty" message to google? I'd really like to bring my keyword density more in line with the other pages in the serp and see if that makes me less sensitive to link building.
Or can I just go ahead and fix these pages?
any advice?
