Keyword misspellings - is it worth it?

I got a domain of a common misspelling of a star's name.

I'm thinking of building a site around it and hope for SERP placement ( not straight URL bar type-in ). I'm wondering if I should keep the name misspelled in the content of the page. ( the misspelling is very subtle )

2 days ago I added some mis spellings to my campaign. The next day, I got a click and sale from the mispelling. I'd say it's worth it.

Listening to 90% of information on public forums isn't worth it either.

Let me reiterate, fucking try it you lazy bastard. Trust me, this is the best reply you'll get. Try the shit yourself, and see if it works. That's how you make money in this business.

If you can't try shit without getting an opinion first, then stick to whatever the hell else it is you do, you need balls to play this game.

I'm not flaming you for asking the question. I'm giving the best advice that I can.

I personally rarely ever use misspellings unless it's a very obvious one that you just know most people will make OR if it's very high volume there's bound to be people mistyping it.

Try running a campaign with all mispellings, that might be kind of hot... ?

Are people so lazy that they will not do it themselves? What is the downside? Maybe 5 minutes of your time?

  • Create a misspellings adgroup of your best 2-3 keywords.
  • Track all the misspellings for each keyword individually.
  • Go to one of the dozens of misspelling calculators on the net.
  • Copy and past the entire set into adwords.
  • Bid 1/2 what you are paying for the broad match of that keyword.
  • 2-3 days later check to see if the conversions are cheaper or more expensive than the original broad match group for which your ads were probably already showing.
People are so worried about the money they might lose as a result of testing. That is so shortsighted. Say it costs $100 to run a test if the test is a total disaster, but you make an extra $10 a day, every day, if it works. As long as you are right a small fraction of the time you end up being a huge winner in the long run, which should be the only thing you care about.

Diorex is right. Just make a plan and give it a shot. Pick a number that you're comfortable with losing (in case it doesn't convert) and just go with it.

From my experience, misspellings will convert at about the same rate as the normal spelling. Also - depending on the niche - misspellings are probably just as saturated.

I do misspellings of domain names when I am domaining for high payout keywords and it is profitable. Just goes to show that it does work.

Exactly what I was trying to say... If you are too lazy to give any idea that pops into your head a try then expect to be fucked with on the forums, stop asking and start TESTING YOURSELF!
