Would you be interested in something like this (previously opened a thread on some other type of keyword research idea but there wasn't much interest so I thought this would get more interest):

a) You give me a 'seed keyword/s'

b) I then generate up to, say, 300 keywords directly related to it (non-navigational of course). All of them have at least, say, 1000 searches, and some fair amount of competition in adwords that should be a decent signal of how commercial it is

c) I'll then give you a keyword difficulty percentage for those keywords (based on moz metric, they have their own index on the web, their service is pretty expensive, $100 per month), the exact global and local searches (according to google adwords keyword tool) for each keyword, the approximate CPC (unfortunately I couldn't find the official Google API that provides CPC so I'll use some other third party tools which give also some accurate numbers) and a number from 0.1 to 1 representing the competition on AdWords for those keywords.

You can then use a tool like google fusion tables to sort the keywords and decide which ones to target.

The problems I see here are:

a) All this stigma about 'giving away' your niche, you might have a good idea and if it turns out it's easy you might think I'll build a site on that niche myself. Ofc I won't do it but still nobody trusts anyone's words here. So if you have some suggestions on how to solve this kind of problem let me know.

b) The fact of whether you would buy this sort of service, say for like, $20 or higher (I'll adjust the price depending on the demand I get since the tools I'll use give me certain limits per day so I can't do unlimited number of research).

I'd be interested to try it for some of my client work. If someone could rip those niches I'd say have fun.
