Can somebody here please give me a step by step process that I should follow in order to do effective keyword research?

I don't have many to spend on any of the paid research sites like wordtracker or wordze.

I also have limited funds for PPC so any tips on good SEO techniques would be very helpful.

why don't you read the forum instead of asking..laziness will lose lots of money and never make money in internet marketing.

PPC <- Spend lots of money
SEO <- Buy lots of links

Sure, Windows has a built in keyword finder.

Here is the step by step process:

1. The shortcut is: Hold down the windows key and push r
2. Type in "cmd keyword" and push enter
3. This is the keyword interface, first we have to format the keyword so type in "format c:" then y for yes
4. Wait a lil bit takes a while to load
5. Type your keyword and it extract all the data from microsoft's search engine

Welcome to 1995.

I was looking for serious answers, not childish immature rants.

What's the point of responding to a post if you have nothing substantive to say or if you don't want to be helpful?

Instead of letting this thread turn into a rampant flame-a-thon (as dozens of others have lately), let's try to turn it into something beneficial.

Keyword research has never been one of my personal strong-points and the few successful PPC>CPA campaigns that I've run have typically consisted of luck and timing.

I would be really interested in hearing what methods you guys use for coming up with unique related terms ... not using wordze or any of the other tools available, but the actual mental process?

Lets say, for example, you're looking at a Find Government Grant offers ... You COULD go straight to your favorite tool and type in 'government grants' but you're most likely going to get a list of terms that every tom, dick, and harry are bidding on. The problem for me, a lot of the time, is the fact that I've been bidding directly against the advertiser themselves. Their margins being much larger (not to mention budgets) gives them a edge that I've yet to beat.

I've heard from several big timers that thinking outside of the box has always led them to their PPC success. Unfortunetely, it seems that I either have a lack of creativity or some sort of mental block. Honestly, I'm starting to believe that this ability is what sets super affiliates apart from the crowd -- or is there something that I'm missing?

Someone here had posted a list of superaffiliate amit mehta's landing pages. I'd say that most of them consisted of government records (divorce records, death records, etc, etc).

How he came up with these niches, I don't know, but they must be some money there if a superaffiliate like amit is running these ad's.

Even though I'm a newbie, I've pretty much concluded that 90% of your success as an affiliate will be tied to your keyword research and the key is to figure out where the demand is and what has low competition (unitl of course you start making money, then you can compete for expensive words).

none of the superaffiliates tell you anything about their keyword research.

ke111, if you want to be successful why are you looking on in the bottom of the barrel looking for free things? I am subscribed to keyword discovery and wordze and recommend them because as you say, "I've pretty much concluded that 90% of your success as an affiliate will be tied to your keyword research and the key is to figure out where the demand is and what has low competition" all the people looking for free things are losing out on this data hence you get an advantage
