Landing Page Site Content

I've read that it's best to put your landing page on a site that has content on already, in order to acheive a good quality score.

I was wondering if putting pages with videos on would be sufficient (pulled from youtube) - so effectively getting a large number of indexed pages. Or is it looking for quality content?
