Similar to movie-forumz.com or others-

I live in the US-

Do you think I will run into any problems? I read about sites like this being shut down after contacted, but will I be ok if I run it until contacted?

Also do you suggest I go with any web-hosting company or will most general companies take me down?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Here's a list of things you'll really want to consider doing:
  • Purchasing your domain through a proxy service like Whois Privacy Protect
  • Have a hosting package located in a country that doesn't subscribe to international copyright laws, like the Caymans or the Ukraine
  • Ensure that everything you pay for is done through an anonymous pre-paid credit card
  • you use a fake persona on the website
  • you only update the website with something like TOR running
In this way, your real world involvement will be entirely cut off from the website at large

Harvey thanks for the reply- I already bought a domain and have the WhoisGuard enabled from Namecheap. The problem is I bought the domain with my real credit card... Should I come up with a new domain name? (thats going to blow) Anyways, so I was thinking about putting up some adsense ads and maybe referral link to amazon where they could buy the movie- Is that a bad idea? I'm going to google around now for hosting services but do you know of any good ones?

Once again thanks for the post(info).

Any comments or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Well, you don't have to go get a new domain. The pre-paid credit card is really just so that if it ever comes to legals, which it really shouldn't if you registered through a proxy in the first place (but IF), then even the proxy doesn't really know who you are.

Also, if you're offering the downloads for free, then yeah, it might be an idea to put up a few ads so people can do the right thing and you can make a couple of bucks here and there.
But on the other hand, if you're offering it through a download service that they have to pay to use for one reason or another ([subtlety]like the ones I hoc: $27.50 per conversion [/subtlety]) then it's best not to have ANYTHING that could lead them away from your site.

Dude, start over. Write this your plan down on paper. Then ask yourself what could go wrong.

Example:
Putting adsense on this type of site is a possible way to shoot yourself in the foot and kill your account. Plus it makes no sense trying to hide all your info when Google has it.

Yes, I know adsense runs on may popular warez, movie and music sites. They have a few things in their favor.

1. Years under their belt
2. Authority
3. Tons of traffic

Thanks for the info guys- If anyone has any other input/suggestions go ahead and post
