Should a business name (registered dba, s-corp, llc, c-corp) include the service the business provides.

For example instead of naming a business "Zero"

Should you instead name the business "Zero Web Design" or "Zero Media" ?

If you are to provide consulting services do you do "Zero Consulting"?

I am a person that decided to just go with one name when I incorporated a couple of years back and I have found it is hard for people to figure out what I do from just the name. But I have also found that it allows me to more freely offer a wide range of my services to others such as design, consulting, programming and even a little marketing/pr work without limiting myself to one particular field like I feel I would have by attaching a second name to my company.

I did alot of research when naming my company and found that even though "media" was a popular attachment and did cover many of those services but not all. I really felt like I was limiting myself.

So in the end I figured there were more pros to a single name then cons.

I have two versions of my business card. One that I hand out (after an introduction) that says nothing but my company name, email address, web address, and phone. And the other that I leave places that lists services provided as well as the information above.

This came up in discussion while I was helping my friend name and register his domain name for his financial services company.

What is the approach that many of you have taken?

i did the same and used a more general name for my s-corp. works well when involved in various types of business
