Hello Everyone,
Looking for your opinions here...I have my Idea on the answer, but wanted to hear yours as well.

We are going back and forth on the issue of how Google treats incoming links to domains that change owners and I was curious as to what you all thought.

We're looking to set up a new site and to give it a bit of a boost buy a pre-existing domain.

What do you think? How will Google treat the incoming links once they see the domain ownership transfer:

1. No change
2. Remove all links and PR and start from scratch
3. Show the links/PR publicly, but deeply discount their value in the internal algorithm
4. Something else I missed

As an extreme example, let’s say we want to open a site around fruits. If we were to buy apple.com how would Google treat the incoming links that if found before the change of ownership?

Apologies for the black text, redone in white below...

Regarding the PR - I don't care about the public page rank, just the internal part the Google uses in it decisions

from the tests i have conducted the last 18months, i can tell you that you benefits from all the links that are there

so My answer will be
#1 No Change,

first, there are others robots than google and when MSN and yahoo catch up with your domain , google follow real fast

i buy expired/dropped domains names with pr and backlinks and if you put content fast you always be safe.

I had only one case of a site sandboxed, and it was because my webmaster have done a mistake an upload the original articles instead of the rewrite. After publishing 15 oroginal ones, we were out of the sandbox within 3 weeks.

a lot of people talk about stuff they never had done, in fact the reality is much more easy when you just put content and you don't even need 100% original content

I have got crazy deal from domain names people didn't wanted to buy because they were banned, etc...

also, you can rely on others sources of traffic than google in this case you don't give a damn about google.

Nice thread,

I am currently going through this same dilemma. I have found several domains with over 20k backlinks and just under a hundred from a PR3. I have bought a couple of these domains, directed them to a unique IP, unique WhoIs, and used a CSS compiler to create 100 posts on a Wordpress site.

I instantly had a PR3 on the site and have made a point of linking to my money site every once in a while from it.

What do you guys think about this approach? Anything to consider here? I am a relative newb on this topic.
