am a lamp programmers, if you are not already using them, the following tools should help you while you're learning php/mysql:

notepad++ (for PHP syntax highlight )
SQLYog (gui for mysql db)
texter (shortcuts for common PHP code you type, like $row[''], $_SESSION[''], etc)

So it looks like this thread has taken a nose dive. I think we can certainly rehabilitate it tho, so whats up guys? I have once again taken a very serious interest in learning PHP. I created my first application at theslangtranslator dot com. Although its not much, its my first attempt at building something with PHP so I am happy with it thus far. What do you guys think? As for the learning itself, I am still working with lynda.com video tutorials, and am about 100 pages done with the greyhat book.

Lets keep the knowledge flowing in this thread guys, its a great language that is useful to us all!

Good to see you back. I will be back on here in a couple of days so get ready for some hard core PHP!! ;)

My wordpress related work was just making a theme from scratch and getting things to work exactly the way i want them to work. With that mostly done i will be continuing my php education with this fine establishment. :xmas-smiley-016:

You might also want to Google Video Search, "thenewboston PHP videos". They have a lot of pretty decent video tutorials on programing.
