A letter today from the Google Affiliate Network:

"I hope your day is going well. The analyzed the registrations and determined that these registrations are not turning profit. XXX SOB client will need to reduce your bounty. Most of your visitors are signing up for the program, but then never returning to XXX SOB client . If your leads start to produce more results, XXX SOB client would be happy to move your bounty back to your current rate. I recommend moving the XXX SOB client placements to a different section of the website or trying a new piece of creative (available in ConnectCommerce) to see if that helps to create more quality leads. Please let me know if you have any questions."

Excuse me? These were legitimate conversions that busted my butt for, and they want to chisel 50 bucks from me. Is this nonsense allowed? My "bounty," Like I'm owed $30,000? This is truly laughable.

HAHAhahahahha what the hell are you doing running with the Google Affiliate Network. You'd be better off running with any network other then that.

Ha-ha yerself. The payout was supposed to be 35% higher than hydra's payout for the same thing. But my point is are they allowed to do this? Nobody said I sent in bad leads. They just didn't make the client a profit.

From that letter it seems like they are lowering it for future leads, which of course they can do. Why couldn't they? You didn't have a long term contract and they are free to change the terms at anytime just as you are free to stop promoting it.

If they are trying to retroactively lower the payout for leads already generated than no they should not be able to do that and you should raise all hell if they money is important to you.

35% higher than Hydra? THAT right there is your problem. If both the advertiser and network are paying that much more they are definitely gunna be up your ass about quality. Either way, I'm not saying Hydra or any other network for that matter excepts sub-par leads but you should naturally expect Google to be tougher.

ha ha ha you're an idiot for running Goog's aff program.

Bounty: payment or reward (especially from a government) for acts such as catching criminals or killing predatory animals or enlisting in the military.

I can see the connection.
No shit, just 99% of companies use a more common term like "commission", or "payment" and not a term that makes you think of Star Wars characters.

Incredible... so google decides not pay you (or cut on your commission) because the leads you send dont convert for the advertiser... (i smell hydra here lol)

How about the traffic you get from google that doesn´t convert for you? dude just tell them to lower you CPC cause they're traffic dont convert for you duh!

Reverse scicology i guess :P

Why is everyone acting like this is a problem that stemmed from the OP running an offer from Google Affiliate Network? Most lead-based offers on ANY network will care about quality, and those that don't simply cut low performing affiliates all together lower commission to make up for the lower quality on the back end! Variable pricing based on quality happens in tons on lead-based niches.

Big fucking deal. I don't know the specifics here, but I'll always take a lower payout over being cut from an offer.
