What are your thoughts on making your landing page / pre-sell page look nearly identical to the offer page? I'm talking about "borrowing" backgrounds from the actual offer, fonts, buttons. In essence, making your own custom pre-sell that has the appearance of the offer page you send them too, so the user can barely tell the difference.

Is this frowned upon by the advertisers? Do you notice a better conversion rate with this type of setup? Not asking for any trade secrets here, and I"m going to split test this anyway, but I'm just looking for thoughts on this type of landing page design.

It does work, I was pushing a Spanish cash4gold directly and I noticed that it wasn't converting much so I asked advertiser to make the page look like forcefactor and conversions went up by 3%

Gotta test either way, I've had some success with this back in the ol' ppc glory days. Now, depending on your vertical, really depends, and your going to have to always test.

totally vertical AND traffic source dependent.

someone searching for "XYZ product reviews" via ppc does not want to see a page that they view as looking "like" the merchant- which is why more amateurish pages OFTEN work well -they've viewed as more unbiased.

someone seeing a banner that looks like the landing page that looks like the merchant page - can work very well. But depends again on traffic source and product.

Answer : test

Will test for sure. In this particular vertical, I think it will probably do better than a standard LP. I'm really just going to incorporate the offer page background into my LP to keep the continuity between LP and offer. I can't imagine I'd need permission to do this, so I'm going to set it up and see if anyone bitches. It's still going to send good quality, targeted traffic to the offer, so I don't think that will cause an issue.

I think it helps a little, its like building rapport or trust.
I hate banners showing a young hot chick on the computer making 5k a month, and on the lander its another much older and uglier. I feel tricked in a way.

People prefer to know you as someone else supports it , I think it's better not to blend in , show that other people support it as well .

Can work well with email submits if you want to build your own list. You can make the exact same page as the email submit. Collect the email into your ESP, then pre-populate the actual offer. Most of the time they'll hit submit the second time and you won't lose many conversions doing this.

or you can find a zip submit and ask for email on your ripped page. user just thinks it's a part of the process.
