I was recently looking up some niche verticals in which to distribute new offers, and one that I came across purely by accident was an affiliate marketing program for selling marijuana paraphenalia and seeds. I know the medicinal marijuana movement is booming right now in CA (some estimates last year state that such clinics were responsible for over 40% of tax monies collected by the state of CA last year, essentially floating their dismal economy), and with some geo/ demographic targeting I'm sure there is a way to make money from this. Medicinal marijuana, no matter how controversial, is fast becoming a major cash cow in places like CA. Question is, have any WF members marketed such a product before? What kind of results did you see? What kind of federal/ state regulatory problems have you run into? And by the way, yes, I am aware of the fact I'm a noob and this is my first post. No, this is not a trolling thread.

There are a lot of affiliate programs for shit like this, even growing mushrooms. I won't say how I know this but trust me when I say: stoners don't buy shit and they convert like shit. At least in my experience. I know it seems like a cool "niche" but it's not even worth the time IMO, I wouldn't recommend any of my friends to market it at least.

Unfortunately, i agree, my own experience shows that it converts like shit, and I mean ~0.1%. I guess the risk factor and classic stoner laziness are a bad combo.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah those conversions suck, and I don't feel like throwing a ton of resources at something with the payouts being the way they are. Oh well, that's what this forum is for, glad I got some feedback on this anyway :)

Stoners are too impatient to wait for a bong to show up in the mail, haa...

"Shipping in 2-3 days???, DUUUUUUDE, I wanna toke now brooo....."

like someone said above, stoners hate to have to wait for things online or spend money online when they can just get it instantly at a smoke shop or on the corner. they're all super paranoid, well some, and definitely don't want their stuff going through the us postal system.

you'd be surprised how many people have come to our network for marijuana/paraphernalia/chemicals or anything related to weed because of 'dank'

sorry i forgot to include this in my last post, but if you go to Legal Nugs and at the bottom click Webmasters it brings you to an affiliate program. i suppose 'cashburners' has some medical marijuana or paraphernalia offers that you could check out. i've had publishers come to me requesting that we get legal nugs

edit: rofl @ some of their offers, this shit is golden - Sir Maximus

Meh We have a very successful online seed sales company based up here in Vancouver but then you yankee's actually had him deported for something which is not illegal up here in Vancouver for something which he paid his taxes on too. Now that is Fucked up.

Though I will say I have sent buds down to friends all the time and so far everything they had received it. On the flip side I have sent coffee down 6 times and only once did it get through.

So go figure

There is also TheHempNetwork that just started.. not really medical marijuana nor a true affiliate program, but you might come up with an idea on how to use them.

It was launched last year and is all hemp products. Hemp seeds, hemp oil, hemp-infused mushrooms, etc.

It's more network marketing than affiliate.. but you still could get creative and make some dough.

TheHempNetwork

Nope, no money here. Stay out.

Like any niche you have to understand what makes it tick.

If you can buy bongs, blunt wraps, pipes, etc locally in cash, why would you buy it online and draw attention to yourself AND have to wait for shipping?

Price. This market is driven by price.

Find things that are vastly inferior in price online. This isn't too hard since many things stoner's buy locally have huge mark ups.

Just because your target audience is a bunch of stoners doesn't mean you have to market bongs, vapes, etc. to them. Start thinking outside the box dude...

Lazy Stoner + Quick fix type offer = Profit

ive been running some tests on some of my sites for medical marijuana here in arizona. I also have written on how to set up these facilities. So, because of this I get calls from people interesting in hiring me to set them up. I can tell you that it's the biggest waste of time ever.....I'd say the phone calls break down like this:

50% of callers are nurses, or friends of nurses, or people that know/hadsexwith a nurse and want to bring them on board to open up a "medical marijuana dispensary" because...you know...they care about people and shit.

30% of the callers are people who want to know how to set up a "pot shop".

19.99% of the rest are high when they call.

that .001 or whatever are people who are serious and actually pay money for information. So what did I learn? Having a site dedicated to getting optins from people for "marijuana" related activities is great....if you're pushing dick pills or pizza hut coupons to.

Been there, done that. Two problems I found were:
1. Low low conversions (which has been echoed already)
2. Non-paying merchants

Yeah, so after being owed money from some seed company in Amsterdam I realized this possibly could be a waste-of-time niche. But it does seem cool to be a weed seed affiliate so if that motivates you, go for it.

I just found that I can make way more actual money (as opposed to money owed to me) from mundane mainstream products.
