Media buying in womens clothing industry

@Makavelimob: Thanks for advice, I'll look into it, We signed up for free trial of WhatRunsWhere to see what our competition is running, but so far unable to locate any useful intel...our goal is to jump into media buying but at the same time make educated and researched decisions in terms of what inventory to buy, where etc...would you say this is a good strategy to persue with media buying or am I missing something here? Of course, majority will be trial and error but we are trying to avoid blowing our budget on "learning the ropes"

@kingofsp: We've been collaborating with lots of bloggers, deal, mommy, celebrity, fashion etc hosting giveaways, product reviews and such and are continuing down this road and although the results have helped us get the additional exposure, I feel like there is more we can do...and besides, the way we locate these bloggers is by simply googling "top fashion blogs" or something similar and contact them directly....the unfortunate part is that only 2-3 out of 30-40 reply back...if you have any experience in this dept, i'd be greatful to get any insights

@thunderlips: Pinterest is indeed a gold mine for our industry, just having problem with engaging the user, we post almost every day, have creative and colorful boards made, but seem to have an issue with gaining traction with the user/customer...some days feel like I'm beating my head against the wall with all the pinning and little results :-/ I know if we can ramp up our social media presence, visitor to customer conversion is bound to go up, just getting to that point is a challenge

I appreciate your response guys, this is good stuff here
Since WhatrunsWhere was mentioned and we've seen a major uptick in women's clothing ads as we get closer to christmas, I figured I'd chime in with a big ass dump of women's clothing ads. There's some randoms mixed in(I'm busy, no time to prune) but hopefully it will give you some ideas.
All in all there's 821 Banners, assorted languages...almost all from the past ~15 days. Took me 2 searches to find them.

I actually just hopped into the women's clothing niche myself with a startup and I also manage 150-200k a month on Adwords for a client on the side, as a source of income until I can take a salary out of the startup. I'd love to shoot around some strategies.

Remarketing is a must, I do mine through Google Adwords. You should segment by Paying vs. Non-Paying customers, so that you can run different ads at each group.

If you have a successful campaign in Google Adwords, auto-import over to Bing. In my experience, Bing gives you a decent volume of conversions at considerably cheaper prices. Double Check the import, Bing sometimes fucks up (It's Bing, they're gonna fuck up).

Check out Wanelo, it's the new Pinterest popping out of San Fran.

Facebook is huge too, really push people to like your page. Some haters are complaining that Facebook is charging to promote to your audience, but frankly I think it makes sense and I see great results. Run a 10-20% off Facebook Offer, Spend $30 per 1,000 fans over the course of 3 days, and you should see great results.

That's with 1k Facebook Fans, you should be able to get more with the amount of volume you get + your ad budget. The number of Facebook Fans you have and the quality of your offer are the two main factors in facebook offers.

Ramp up your social presence on Twitter and Pinterest as well. The easiest way is to mass follow people in your niche.

Personally, I think you need to incentivize social traffic to pull them from their social experience to your website. Offer Free Shipping, % off, whatever it takes.

Right now, i'm experimenting with Youtube Ads. If you do photoshoots, try to capture some footage as well. I haven't hit success yet, but I see great potential in Youtube advertising.

Get creative, then Test, optimize, Test, optimize.

Good Luck, pm me anytime.
