Hello,

i may seem new but i read this forum for over 2 years, and i'm an on-off affiliate for 8 years (mostly adult but recently a lot of mainstream ppc).

recently I've signed a contract for buying media through a closed group of super huge media brokers. the cost for me is $0.06 cpc. quite cheap.

I've tried a few neverblueads' freebies, the top epc offers and failed big time (0/387 for the "free cruise" if you're familiar with it).

what would you try with this amount of cheap media? maybe we can work together on this somehow...

thx..

You sure your not getting a crap ton of traffic via popups/redirects? You'll rarely convert them.

Since your not giving out any demographic data, I'll probably just keep reading this thread while watching my cock get smaller. How do you expect to get any type of half-intelligent answer with what you should try at $0.06 clicks? The only logical one would be to "try everything" at that price. Much like the throw and stick method or you could tell us a little bit where, why and who of your demographics. At least then you give us a chance to throw a few ideas at ya.

Ok ruck,

there are no targeted demographics (only age and sex) but there are a lot of niches (channels). there is also 5 rates from pg to X-rated.

So far I've tried the cruise offer on the travel channel. Didn't work so well.

Do you think it has potential? how does 0.06 compares to the average media buys?

contact me with some ideas and maybe i'll be able to hook you up with this group as well.

btw, on the last post i said there is no pop-up traffic. well it appears there is a lot of it. i didn't check well enough earlier... :-(...

You should be comparing prices between media buys, but quality between media buys.

If shit seems too good to be true, it most likely is. First of all, media buys typically run CPM so seeing you talk about CPC is a little strange to begin with. If you haven't committed to an assload of this traffic yet I suggest you don't. Do a little more research on media buying, a networks demographics, and possible offers. You don't wanna jump into something AND then try to figure out your demos/offers.

Just my 2 cents...

6 cents seems so far out of the ordinary. I mean this has to be a group that is placing your buys throughout somewhere. And now that you say there IS popup traffic I'm thinking you probably got the shaft. There really is no point in my testing it because I much prefer to deal with owners of sites exclusively rather someone helping or managing my buy.

Here's the thing about media buys and freebie (low paying) offers. I dont claim to be an expert but it's a field I've worked in and it's a field publishers come to me about so I might have something to offer when I say that when you deal with freebie offers you really got to buy traffic from decentralized locations.

Having your freebie spread out in many places (which is what I am assuming is happening here) gives so many alleys of a classic cluster fuck. There are just too many things to track so even if you DID get some conversions it's a maze of shit to weed thru with cutting crap sources to bring your ROI up.

This is why I advise even the newest of marketers to educate and teach themselves how to buy their own media. When you turn this sort of thing over to "experts" or "media buying agencies" you are usually just setting yourself up for disaster.

Traditional media buying was never really intended for the affiliate. It was intended for product owners who can leverage the prices of buys with 100% profit margins, rebilling, backend setups (such as call centers or huge auto mailing series) and branding.

Buying Media placements as an affiliate takes careful planning and research and really should be done by you and nobody else.

A perfect example of turning this over to someone who doesn't conduct very good research nor provide demographic data worth enough to even contemplate.

It dont even compare. As already stated by Spades CPC seems so out of whack. I mean aside from Search Engines and 2nd-3rd tier resources, CPC is very hard for anyone else to setup, more importantly...to operate and the ones that do manage to do this are usually just garbage or starting out. When starting out they will accept almost any site into their network just so they can have some traffic to throw at Advertisers which turns out to be bad for us.

You can contact me anytime by AIM if you want. I dont have the time to test your source but running a name by me will probably yield a "dont waste your time" or "try this instead" answer.

Ruck,

thanks for the advice. my interest in media buys started from your blog and i though it could be a nice shortcut. it does sound a little too good to be true (Neverblue avg. epc of 0.24 - 0.06 = 0.18c profit times 20,000 a day).

back to the drawing board...

I would not commit to anymore if I were you. My invitation stands to contact me on AIM whenever you feel like and maybe I could point you in some better directions. Most of it is going to be on a Flat-Rate or CPM basis, but at least the CPC ones I do point you to give you the ability to completely research the sites you pick out.
