Yea, it was quite known. Appeared in many newspaper, and online articles.

With search engine traffic, 50% of SE traffic came from the visitors searching for : overboost.com
They literally typed it in with the .com. And that accounts for 50 visitors a day.

I do believe that people still remember the domain. Since this site used to be huge. Over 50,000 daily visitors. They used to sell tickets to races, luxary car parts, host shows themselves.

Fair enough. Thanks for the explanation.

In this case, each day that passes less people remember about the site - especially when they visit it, and there's a "coming soon" page, they will write it off forever. It is a very good idea to put up a simple form to the effect of "remember overboost? its coming back and even better, enter your email to be informed when it relaunches next month. We won't spam you". That way you're keeping all of these loyal visitors who remember the brand and are building a list to which you can email a "we're back" message (rather than turning these people away empty handed). Good thread btw!

Z.Z. has the right idea. Also type overboost.com in google and the rest and see if you have broken links coming into overboost for every site that ranks for that term and put the same form on each of these landing pages too. Have fun.

Well, I decided to do what Bill advised. On the homepage, I'll have several boxes. One would lead to the Blog, one leads to car insurance, another to car quote and the last to free gas. So pretty much 3/4 selections will be affiliate offers.

Most likely, the visitors will visit multiple selections, so most should still go to the blog. Once they do so, I'll have new posts related to cars daily. So that should start building up the return visitors. I'll also be less aggressive on advertising on the blog. Just a banner here and there.

Yep, I plan to do that also. Though, it will take some time.

You say the site receives 400 daily visitors. However compete says overboost.com received less than 200 visitors for the whole month of October. Is Compete wrong ?

Since when do people base traffic on complete's report? I'm basing my stats of Google Analytic.

Please keep bumping this thread once in a while by posting actions and results. I'm interested in how this works out, guys. Unfortunately, I'm too slammed with work to comment often. Subscribed.

Well after a tormenting 24 hours, I finally got wordpress installed. Dreamhost is horrible when it comes to installing wordpress on it. Damn, how many problems I ran into.

But I finally made the first blog post. The homepage of the domain just redirects to the blog at the moment. I am working on getting the homepage up. Hoping to have 3-4 daily posts on the blog, and hit 800 daily visitors by the end of this week.

Holding off the advertisements for several days.

Update:

Currently, I have it at 600 daily visitors. With over 5,000 page views a day. I decided to make it into a blog at the moment. The biggest obstacle right now is monetizing the international traffic. I can't seem to figure out what to do with them. International traffic takes up 75% of the traffic. Any suggestions would do wonder.

What the hell does a revolution ad have to do with cars? Especially now that it is free.

Set up a forum...

That had occurred this morning. Somehow it got auto-inserted there. Whatever I do, I can't fucking remove it.

Not sure if setting up a forum is such a good idea. These visitors barely click on the relative advertisements that I do carry. I highly doubt they will spend the time to participate in a discussion.
