i used to visit that site like 4 years ago. it was a street racing/tuner site. they had some nice cars/articles too. i was surprised it went down.
With search engine traffic, 50% of SE traffic came from the visitors searching for : overboost.com
They literally typed it in with the .com. And that accounts for 50 visitors a day.
I do believe that people still remember the domain. Since this site used to be huge. Over 50,000 daily visitors. They used to sell tickets to races, luxary car parts, host shows themselves.
Fair enough. Thanks for the explanation.
In this case, each day that passes less people remember about the site - especially when they visit it, and there's a "coming soon" page, they will write it off forever. It is a very good idea to put up a simple form to the effect of "remember overboost? its coming back and even better, enter your email to be informed when it relaunches next month. We won't spam you". That way you're keeping all of these loyal visitors who remember the brand and are building a list to which you can email a "we're back" message (rather than turning these people away empty handed). Good thread btw!
Z.Z. has the right idea. Also type overboost.com in google and the rest and see if you have broken links coming into overboost for every site that ranks for that term and put the same form on each of these landing pages too. Have fun.
You say the site receives 400 daily visitors. However compete says overboost.com received less than 200 visitors for the whole month of October. Is Compete wrong ?
Please keep bumping this thread once in a while by posting actions and results. I'm interested in how this works out, guys. Unfortunately, I'm too slammed with work to comment often. Subscribed.
What the hell does a revolution ad have to do with cars? Especially now that it is free.
