I have been building ebay niche stores.(with help of software) and for some reason I wanted to do a niche about farm and agricultural supplies. I want to hear from the experts here at WF weather or not if this website can be further monetized. I looked through CJ but could not find anything that had to do with farming or agg. I went to my linkshare account and the same shit happened. Nothing for this type of niche. Does anyone know where I can find some affiliate programs that have to do with farming and agricultural supplies? I really don't have to as because It has google and ebay already, But it would be nice to have some more options. Even a cpa offer or some shit. thanks for taking the time to read my stupid thread

Farming & Agricultural Supplies is the site

Dating sites. Those young farmers get lonely too. Your traffic might be targeted from the ag community, but think of offers that would be of interest to a larger pool. Netflix for example - farmers have DVD players, but the video store is a long way into town. How about life insurance quotes - it's a rough biz, farming.

I might be missing something here but aren't you monetizing it through eBay? Or are you looking for further monetization through other affiliate offers?

I am looking for further monetization..BTW what do you guys think of the site?

Er... not sure.

if you are looking into monetizing, why not include some ebay offers on the right sidebar?

For example on:
john deere lawn tractors

There is space for - well - tractor offers.

farmers dont use the interweb

Actually, they use it quite extensively. Monitoring commodity prices, weather reports, tracking field yields - all kinds of stuff. They are accessing it via satellite or erecting antennas and creating wi-fi networks across the country side.

I went to an auction a few years ago and I heard a group of farmers carrying on talking specs and from a distance I assumed it was about tractors, combines, etc. As I approached I could make out that it was actually about download speeds, computer hardware, etc. Farming is high-tech.

It's a lovely site. Very John Deere. I'm surprised you're making them do the hard work of searching when you could just show them some results, but since I'm even more a newbie than turbolapp I don't know which is better. :)

And I agree with emp- why aren't there any links on the right side for ... tractors!

Where would you suggest I go to find affiliate programs that deal with what you mentioned

I guess I can just grab a pic of a tractor and link it directly to ebay ? Paste it in the right column.

Something else that these guys collect as do those that might stumble across your site are vintage tractor toys and die casts - look them up in eBay collectibles and post it. Think about their wives, maybe there's some ebay shit you can put up that they might consider picking up for the misses.

Regarding the stuff up top, I was merely saying that farmers use the web for those things so they are wired. Don't know if there are affiliate programs specific to those.

If you can figure out how to tap into it, this is a great market. Farmers are loaded right now. Ethanol has jacked up the prices for corn to the point where everyone in the midwest with 40 acres and a tractor is making serious bank.

Farmers do use their computers, and they do spend serious cash on farm equipment, pickup trucks, and bib overalls.

The replica toy idea is a good one.

Although, replacement parts for vintage tractors might be a better one, as a lot of these guys collect old tractors. Try to add more targeted pages from ebay. Ford Replacement Parts, Farmall parts, John Deere Parts. Build out your site with more specificity.

Now, if I were really interested in tapping into this market, and wasn't afraid of hard work, I'd try to build a way to harvest crop insurance leads. Once you got them, you'd have to sell them directly to insurance agents, since there's no one brokering them on the internet (as far as I could tell from a quick search).

The great thing about doing this is that its an insurance market with virtually no competition on-line.

You'd definitely have to spend some time researching it (especially as there's a ton of government regulations involved) but it would probably be worth it. Here's a site with a bunch of helpful links: Crop Insurance Services.

God damn Del. I have spent all day trying to find some sort of angle at this and I am fucking stumped . Other than the aff progs I put in already

Apparently, farmers having had a good year like to take long vacations far away from all that reminds them of tractors and dirt, usually in the winter.
Just a thought.

And my two cents worth from looking (briefly) at your site: The top half looks good, but I would suggest going for a cleaner look further down. All those little banners on the sides make it look overloaded and chaotic. Farmers are often conservative and might be somewhat put off if someone is trying too hard to sell them stuff, especially stuff that's unrelated to their reasons for being there in the first place. I guess what I'm saying is that the ads should be fewer and more targeted.

Good luck, marketing to farmers should be an interesting field (<-- notice the clever pun). :D

I took your advise on vacations and did one better. I found an offer for vacation homes. Sale/Lead

A lot of the ideas about monetizing are good, especially the vintage toys. I collect them (an academic farmer) as did my grandfather a farmer till he died.

As to the website, I am not certain the first thing I am interested in seeing on a web site is the history of what I do. I would think you could add some geo targeted weather module on the website. That way when the farmer comes to your site they get their weather. Next I would add a feed for commodity prices, most of the farmers I know follow commodities pricing as much as they follow sports scores. Last I would add a agricultural news feed, should be easy to find make.

Lastly you could market educational affiliate offers, since many farmers want their kids to goto college. In addition, many farmers use university ag extension offices all the time. Additionally, you could market consulting services and software (this would take more work since you would need to know the market and drum up your own offers, but the rewards could be great), I would consider paying for this if you could show me farmers coming to your site from my market.

Just some thoughts, love the idea.
