Alright i know this is has been done but i wanted to know what you guys think before i actually spend some more time and money in this. Im going to make a movie review site which updates on the new releases and gives ratings you know. Im going run copeac related affilates. Blockbuster, netflix what ever they have that are movie related does this sound like a good plan or should i totally it i know to learn you have to try it but i just want some advice thanks.

Yea i was starting to think imdb probaly owns that deal lol

YOu should specialize in something like B Movies or if you want to make a comedy/review site make a site critiquing (sp) something like movies from the Lifetime channel. There's plenty of comedy there.

A general movie review site is way to competitive however several movie review sites about each particular new movie coming soon to theaters is a lot less competitive. Each site this way would be more short term but the goal will remain long term because their will always be new movies coming to the theaters, the trick is to know which ones are getting released before a bunch of people jump on the urls, it can be done with some basic IMDB research.

So basically find out what movies are releasing in summer and fall of 2007 buy the domains "moviename".com and just write about it.

Pretty much yeah, toss up some nice screenshots of the movie and shit, if your main source was going to be adsense revenue then blend those into your text but if you were going to be promoting and affiliate product based upon the movie then that should be easy to incorporate in your work.

There will be a really big chance that you won't get the exact movie domain name, hollywood grabs those up quiet quick, before anyone else knows about the movie but this is where your keyword research comes in, find a good movie name and then run it through Overture or Wordtracker to get an idea of how much that term is being searched, now expect low results under say 1000 but as long as it has a few, at this point you'll have to do a bit of guesswork because no one is going to be searching for this movie until the previews start to hit and until the movie makes it to theaters.

You'll have lots of time to get indexed in Google based upon when the movie comes out in theaters and when the flood of traffic comes in, so anyway find a keyword that you think people will be searching for, now type the following into Google and monitor the results allintitle: "Your Keyword" and allinurl: "You Keyword"

What that will do is basically give you a better idea on your competition if the allinurl search comes back with under 10 results then you'll easily be able to nail the top 10 page with a few easy on page optimization tricks, keyword in the h1 tag, title tag, and in the url.

So now you'll have your site up for a keyword exactly the name of the movie or something super related that you'll think will get lots of traffic and also this keyword will have low competition.

Now once the movie hits theaters, even if its a dude you'll get lots of people searching for it and then it'll slow down until the movie comes out in Stores and then you'll get another flood of people searching for it and then it'll pretty much slow down to nothing, thats when you create another page, well you always create a new page the second you see a movie coming out.

Just as a little related example I've done this for a television series and on the days where the series is on my search term (Which is a low search term because of the competition), gets over 600 first time visitors, and averages 250 to 300 unique for the other 6 days in the week.

Its not the greatest and you can do better with popular movies but its good because their is no real mantince after you've got it online.

Alright i understand it know. One last question then ill leave yall alone besides CopeAc and Clickbank whats another good Affiliate Marketing Database? Thanks for the info i appreciate it. I know .com would be great but would either extensions be alright for this kind of site?

Echo, don't let competition keep you from starting a movie review site. If you can bring unbiased, well written movie reviews you'll be able to bring in a lot of readers. Sure there are some big time sites already out there (Rottentomatoes, IMDB, MRQE, etc) but all they do is regurgitate the same movie critic reviews.

This niche is so huge there is a ton of room. The problem I see is not competition but watching all those movies and writing compelling reviews everyday.... that will require a lot of time on your part.

Yea thats what i started to release is creating the great unique reviews is going to take alot more time so i think i might just do what Aequitas said about the individual movie sites

pocketrockets you are quiet correct on that aspect you should never be afraid of entering a competitive market but the main question you should ask yourself is how much time your willing to take to beat out your competition in a competitive market, if you want things to start sooner then 6 months then look for something not as competitive but if your willing to put in the effort over 6 months or a year while working on other projects to keep you alive then definatly its possible.

yourself is how much time your willing to take to beat out your competition in a competitive market...

You are completely wrong here. How would you expect to 'beat' such competitors as IMDB and RottenTomatoes, within any timeframe?

That kind of a goal simply isn't realistic.

Anything is possible, here I'll give you two examples YOU TUBE and WIKIPEDIA.

Once upon a time they were unheard of then all of a sudden boom they dominated their markets in a short period of time, now they might not have had all that much competition at the time but did you know once upon an time their were people who said flying machines would never be a reality it was just improbable, did you know once upon a time the internet wasent around and people didn't know anything about it?

If someone really wanted to they could take down YouTube, or even beat out the 100 million members MySpace has to dominate that market as well, fuck someone could beat out Microsoft in the computer market

Or the greatest story yet

Google in the Search Engine Market, who would have thought they could ever beat out Yahoo the leading market share at the time, Google came out with 200,000 bucks in their pocket to dominate the market.

Trust me if you put in enough time, research and effort anything is possible, don't under estimate the power of will.
