I built a content site around a high paying keyword, and related phrases. It is my first site built with adsense as the only monetization source. I get around $1.50 per click.

I have only marketed the site through article marketing. Obviously, these keywords are in a highly competitive and saturated niche, so article marketing is just bringing in a trickle of traffic.

Last month, I had 399 impressions and 11 clicks and the site made $13. Obviously, I am sitting on a site that could potentially bring in a nice little secondary income if it had steady traffic.

What other ways would you advertise a content site with adsense, other than article marketing?

You could drive traffic to it through PPC and capture the visitors name and e-mail address and then market similar products to them that might be available through CPA or ClickBank.

I know not everyone here likes CB as some of the products are pretty crappy...

I actually do have one CB product on the site, but it has made only one sale in the past 8 months. CB sucks!

Why, start a campaign on Adwords, ensuring your maximum bid is marginally lower than your average click payout... *cough*

Actually, running an ad campaign on notGoogle traffic sources isn't such a bad idea.
I'd recommend on using social networks, specifically ones that are geared to the niche.
Obviously, as I have no idea what your niche is, I can't make a suggestion, but if you were doing something like "high powered corporate retreats", then a network like LinkedIn, targetting upper management types, is actually going to do a hell of a lot better than a more heavily trafficked network like Facebook.

I didnt know that...i only got $2.75... can anybody show me how i can get bat least $10?

A little off topic, but sometimes where you put your ads can make a huge difference. For one of my sites, putting the banner to the side compare to at the top of page generated a 50% increase. Just something to consider. It's all about testing, good luck.

In my suggestion my friend concentrate on search engine traffic first. More SE traffic you get more chances to increase your Adsense income. Alternate of Adsense you can do affiliate marketing by joining through commission junction or clickbank, Text link ads, earn through guest post, etc. The list is go on.....

Harvey's got it here. Try some arbitrage with secondary traffic sources and give it a test 100-200 clicks. From there you can extrapolate how many clicks are turning into Adsense clicks and whether it's worth going after or not.

Obviously if that isn't a possibility you can always do some SEO work on the site in order to get more organic traffic through rankings.

Hi there.....
try advertise your website and social bookmarking to increase your traffic....
hope it will help you....

commenting on popular blogs like TechCrunch will give you some non-paid traffic. Its even better if you find authority blogs related to your niche.

Link building will create some nice traffic from Google and other SEs.

If you do this, keep in mind that your current CTR is less than 3 percent. Based on your current numbers, in order for your site to profit, your clicks will have to cost you less than 4 cents a piece. In my opinion, you would be far better off creating a site that is optimized for arbitrage and yields much higher payouts per click. Good luck, bro.

Jonben must be a spam bot.

I had a bit of success with uploading videos to Youtube and other vid sites. I would just put the url at the bottom of the video and in the info box at the side of the page. For example I have an Adsense site about coins so I filmed some coins while talking about them. If you're really interested in the niche you can post a lot of videos on the same niche and build up a subscriber base. Subscribers don't tend to click through to your site/blog as much as first timer visitors, but you can bait them to visit, like in your video say "For more information about these coins go read my new article about them on my blog". etc.

You can leverage your video submissions by using Tubemogul, a free video submission service.

All the things that people have mentioned so far (with the exception of the guy trying to suggest ClickBank, but he changed his idea afterwards so no harm done) have been good ideas.

PPC with AdWords would be ideal with this niche if you have an extremely high-paying but dense niche keyword. And HarveyJ's idea of trying sources other than Google, as so many webmasters rely simply on Google for their traffic needs, is probably the best method to come out of the thread so far.

As well as social bookmarking, Facebook fan pages and groups, and commenting on other popular blogs geared in the similar niche not only can get you curious, targeted visitors, but also backlinks on popular, similar sites and blogs.

As for my personal ideas, I would first go with the idea CarpeDiem put out. Except know that the 336x250 ad size placed at the top of the column where the posts are, and the colors blended into the theme, is widely-known as the highest CTR and highest clicked AdSense area. For a correct sizing, there's a member here named Danc who has his signature in the same style.

I also suggest you submit every one of your posts to Digg. It's an extremely easy, two step, two minute process that can really bring in visitors. I did this on one of my blogs when first starting out, and I got an extra 300-400 visitors a day through this for about a week, until it was buried underneath all the other information.

Good luck!
