Hello, so I know it is generally not a good Idea to divulge information about what my technique (or idea) is to make money, but I figure someone will be able to help me out and actually get me creating content.

Mainly what I am working on now creating a personal website about myself and have this as a platform for which to branch out into other areas. Right now my goal is just to get the site up and running effectively and start getting feedback from people about how I could improve upon it. It has also been a great learning tool but progress is slow and I often get frustrated.

Another Idea which I am playing with is local SEO marketing. I have bought the domain to lawyersinmytown.com as well as other professions. What I plan on doing is charging them for affiliation with my website. I will put up their contact information for them for a monthly fee. This will seem expensive but because 1 referral equates to thousands of dollars for them my fees will be nominal.

Finally what I want to create is a database driven website for an idea which I do not want to get into specifics. Mainly what it will be as a resource that wil help people finding the things they are looking for in a specific niche. Now I would probably use PHP Mysql to accomplish this but my knowledge of this is very limited. This idea is still very theoretical but I know the market for this is there.

Now unfortunately my programming knowledge is very basic, I know html and that is about it. I am still young(17) and there is just so much information out there I tend to lose focus on my short term goals and instead look at long term "what if scenarios". Do any of you guys struggle with this? What helps motivate you to do what you do?

Thanks for your feedback

I struggled for years and during challenging times still do. It's all the fascination with the latest methods and shit. Just fucking do something is what I say.

Whenever I've got into a bit of a rut I've listened to a tape or read a book, which provides me with a short burst of inspiration. That inspiration can provide enough of a kick start to do something. And when you start something it builds momentum and provides it's own motivation. It's kind of self-perpetuating.

I still find it ironic when you realise 90% of the books, techniques and systems kicking around only make the rut deeper and harder to get out of. Their gravity sucks you in and unless you can find that moment of inspiration you just go around and around and around looking for new techniques to help you get out and amusingly they only make it harder.

Stop learning new techniques, expand upon the one you like and stick with it until you make it work. That's THE best thing I could have learned about 15 odd years ago when I was about your age.

- That's books on "business" methods by the way. Predominantly ebooks, not books on coding, mark-ip and proper business books on advertising and psychology and what not.
