Need Advice - Banned AdWords Account

Whether you play by the rules or not it seems to be just a matter of time before it is your turn.

This.

You can be banned by making honest mistakes. If your ad gets denied too many times, even if it was a mistake (inaccurate display url for example) your account can/will be banned.

It's really no big deal...

Get a new Netbook, a fresh credit card # (or call your own in as LOST/STOLEN and wait for a new # in the mail), an 800# on one of the online Toll-Free sites, a fresh email addy (not gmail) and slightly edit the spelling of your name/address.

You'll be back up in no time and it's well worth it if your volumes are anything decent.

And yes, Google grabs your MAC from Adwords Editor...and I'm sure everyone here uses it for their campaigns.

Trying to contact them, crying to them, or taking shortcuts in opening new accounts will only delay/stall the process.

They ban for random shit at random times...just suck it up and move on.

Makes no difference if one is an honest or "dishonest" Adwords affiliate. Affiliates are specifically listed under "Unacceptable Business Practices," you're only harming yourself if you put on the affiliate hat and attempt to play by the rules.

However, if acting as a merchant or first-party, act within the rules by all means.

Beating google ban:

Call your bank and tell them you lost your credit card.
Get a new number and card. Optional: change your address to something else.

Get a new IP address. Call your cable company and request a new one ($40?) or better yet tether your phone to your laptop for an IP that changes every once in a while or get one of those Verizon 4G connectors. Or work in a public spot (Starbux) where the IP isn't easily traceable to one individual.

Don't remake the same campaign or anything similar. You were probably banned for a reason. Make sure you're not using the same tracking links and

Register a new Google AdWords account from a new computer (pick up a used laptop for like $100, or get a netbook).

Don't ever log into your old google accounts like gmail from your netbook/old laptop. Or do anything that may tie you to your account.

Little people know this but entering your credit card, the only thinks they check for are the number, CSV, expiration date, and zip code.

Structure your card like this (bold is required, anything else can be fake)
13123-13123-31243
Expiration date, CSV
John Doe
(can be a fake name)
1234 Fake Street
94394

Don't immediately try to push what you were pushing. Sites will require a brand new redesign, get rid of your 202 link and set up a new one. I recommend getting a new hosting server but that can just be the paranoia speaking.

While you're at it, change your credit card's billing address somwhere else (a P.O. box or your friends/family's place.

Lay low for a while. Spending 1k a day within the first few days of getting your account back will probably result in a review.

Age your account for a few months, promoting offers that 100% legit.

Now that the whole thing has been blown over you can get back into the game.
Don't get caught up again.

PS: I highly recommend a second computer for this, just dedicated to AdWords. If that's not an option, at least reformat your computer so it's clean.
PS2: Get a new legit credit card either under the name of the friend (pay him in cash for the trouble), which would probably work beeter. Prepaid cellphones work great.

Remember, Google is a huge corporations and it's easier for them to just bad anyone who may appear to be doing something shady rather than to figure out what's really going on. They don't care about you until you're sending large volumes; once you get on that radar they won't hesitate to shoot you down, but if your product or website is legit you should have no problem. A lot of the people complaining about being taken down by G are obviously doing something they shouldn't be doing, or crossing the line so to speak. Don't bitch and whine about it, pull through, adapt, and accept it as the way things are.
