Need an opinion from someone knowledgable

So...after almost 3 years out of the spamming game, im trying to come back and get legit in internet marketing. Spent a fair amount of time of reading and not enough time doing...so i said fuck it, gotta start somewhere.

Got about $2k saved up and was thinking about getting into PPC marketing. I see that ppl who know what the fuck they're doing are making good money. Ppl that dont, go home broke. Im not trying to be one of those ppl.

Hoping to get a honest opinion from someone whos been in the game for quite sometime and knows what works and what doesnt.

My questions is: Is PPC a good way to start off in IM biz with only 2K initial investment, or is PPC something geared towards those motherfuckers who know what they're doing, cuz I sure as hell dont, at least not yet.

What would be the best venture to take to slowly learn your shit but not go broke at the same time...Im def not looking for not get rich quick schemes but just trying to keep my ass covered somewhat while i jump in with both feet into this industry.

you certainly don't have to be an expert to jump in with PPC but don't run in blind either. Do your research before hand!
 
Any paid traffic source will get you quick results, positive or negative, so if you have the budget you can learn quickly.

2K is a reasonable amount of capital to get into things, but if you are new to the whole process and have more time than money, free traffic (seo) is the way to go.

You need to learn how to convert visitors into buyers. PPC or any other paid traffic will get you more visitors quicker, but at a premium, so it really depends on how quickly you can learn.

Its late where i am, so this post might be overly generic bollocks, but then again it might help.

I spent about a month here just reading around, and read Nickycakes's guide which is very simple but helped a lot. I used OfferVault to pick a campaign in a low competition niche that I also had a passion for. Jumped right into it and made 300% off of the initial investment the first month. So that would be my suggestion: low competition niche that you are knowledgable about.

@NightG thats awesome! 300% ROI in 1st month is sweet!!!! I just got done reading thru nickycakes guide yesterday, havent been to OfferVault yet...would love to pick ur brain a lil more if possible cuz sounds like im trying to head into the same direction as u.
 
build a basement of passive income; like wordpress sites in low competition niches then promote related amazon products / adsense

I think Nickycake's guide already mentions this, but the best place to start, especially if your interest is in PPC, would be Facebook.

I suggest a 3 pronged approach:

1. Facebook Ads. You know what others are running. You can see the ads. Just test the fuck out of a few campaigns, learn to write basic ad copy and demo targetting, seeing what kind of images work. You can test campaigns relatively cheaply. Clicks can be WAY cheaper then jumping into adwords. When you get a handle of facebook you can try moving to Adwords/Bing/etc PPC. But thats a much tougher game now. Plenty Of Fish on the other hand would be a good one to try.

2. PPV. Join PPV Playbook, Affportal. At your budget try MediaTraffic and LeadImpact. $200 each deposit, if I remember correctly.

3. Create some microniche review sites. Products from commission junction, pepperjam, amazon, can even do some cpa stuff. This is SEO backburner stuff. While you're creating campaigns like crazy on Facebook and PPV, slowly build backlinks for these review sites. Start with 3-5 in different niches, go for higher paying products, something thats NOT competitive. Amazon is huge, find something not to competitive. In the least you'll learn something. Buy Market Samurai so you monitor the keywords for your sites and research competition.

Read up on all 3, obviously, then test, test, test. Here, PPV playbook, some good blogs. Check the best of threads here, with links to best blog posts etc.

Roughly, put aside $1000 for facebook. $500 for PPV. $200 for the SEO project - market samurai and domains. Maybe test out some link packs for the laffs, to see what kind of results you can get (bookmarks, etc).

The other $300 is your 'guru' money. What you want to do with this is burn it in sacrifice to Vishnu, while chanting 'Spare me from the gurus, oh Lord of DP degenates and the Mighty Dickroll, Lord Vishnu, have mercy on my sinful soul, Lord Vishnu, keep me free from the guru decease, Lord Vishnu', and punching yourself in the face. If Lord Vishnu is kind when you do come across this wretched decease you'll remember that punching yourself in the face, burning money and warshipping false idols is WRONG and won't do it.
 
Dispel's giving out some fantastic advice, but I guess one crucial question to ask is how much time do you have to spend on the business?

Building a portfolio of long-term and short-term assets is ideal of course, but if you only have 2 hours per day to spend, you're better off focusing on just one business model.

Keep working on it until you get that business up and running, then move on, etc.
 
Awesome advice Dispel, appreciate the feedback, never heard MediaTraffic and LeadImpact, will have to check them out

Now as far as website creation goes...what software would be suitable for someone with not a whole lot of experience on website design...i downloaded XsitePro 2 and played around with it, but will it be sufficient enough to create the microniche sites ur talking about?

And @wickedjugg, i do have a full time job right now, regular 9-5 which im not going to quit unless im doubling my income with IM (tripling???) but im off at 530 so i have about 6-7 hours to put into this biz working after hours 6pm-12am or so...plus the weekends im looking to fully take up all my time doing IM so essentially its like 2 full time jobs, hopefully it pays off
 
xsitepro should do fine, a lot of people seem to use it.

Personally I just use wordpress. its powerful with all the plugins that you can get, for seo etc. Google around for the best WP plugins for seo. Lots of free themes around for all your needs. use free themes as is, or you can throw together a header for your site ( use gimp for graphics, its free) or pay someone here $20 to design one.

Some people are against using WP, because it can be a little slow to load. But I would not worry about that at this stage, you're not hitting really competitive niches were you need that kind of edge. Just be careful not to use an resource hungry theme or not to load in too many plugins - just whats necessary.
