Need Help with tracking affiliates

i have made a few posts regarding this problem with no luck.
how can you track sales for an affiliate program if you dont use buy it now buttons on the website? most of my sales are made after a few phone calls and emails and then an invoice is sent for payment. so how can i setup a program that will track the sales?

I take it your talking about tracking your affiliates?

Sounds like your going to have to come up with a custom solution where the affiliate gets credit for the sale, and then when the payment comes through you pay him. Might not be any off the shelf solutions.

well i do have a few guys now and what i do for them is give them a discount code and when that is used i can credit it to them BUT that requires the affiliate to trust and i would rather have something that would give them peace of mind so to speak..

Just curious about this. No matter how you track, isn't is always a matter of trust? I've been sent links by some advertisers than didn't have my tracking code inserted and when I sign up with some networks, they don't exactly make it easy to figure out which part of the link is your code. So it all boils down to trust. Build a relationship and you will build trust. Other than the discount code, I don't have a clue.

Discount code will work.

Or, you can provide the affiliates with different phone extension numbers.
When they market, let them market the original number along with the extension, together.
The customer won't know all the numbers lead to the same place, so he will almost always dial the extension.

well the discount code is what im using so we will see how it goes.
