Hi,

We have recently finished programming our new site shoppingbounce.com. I've received a ton of positive remarks about how the site looks. In addition, I've received comments from people telling me the site is not seo friendly at all. I need some advice on what to do to help make the site more search engine friendly.

What are flat url's? What can I do?

Thanks

Also, use appropriate H1/H2 headings where applicable, for example on product detail page, enter the product name as H2 (how you have it as plain paragraph from what i have seen).

Oh and I forgot, you seem to have the same TITLE tag for every page... this is bad. Put a category or product name into there.

Would a flat url look like this, shoppingbounce.com/department(example)/category/searchphrase

Would that still be a flat url, or does it need to be /department-category-searchphrase

I think the one with the slashes ('/') is commonly used more, but even the second (with dashes) is a lot better than what you currently have.

Also..

when changing titles, do it in this order:

OBJECT/CATEGORY/DOMAIN

example:
men's t-shirts at shoppingbounce.com

Do not put your domain first.

Very nice site there eclipse. Good layout, not too cramped and a clean navi.
You definitely need to work on the link structure as mentioned above but its seems your not doing to bad on visitor numbers?

May I ask what script you are using to power the comp prices?

I am more so interested on a niche level and not a portal such as shoppingbounce. I have trialled many a scripts but this one seems fluid and simple.

So you did the SEO on your brothers site and now you want a free link?

I use /'s where they make sense. Your first example would be fine. Just don't overdo it. No more than 3 /'s in any URL. That's one of the rules I follow when it comes to URL's. Don't know if it's that important anymore.

More than 3 /'s might just indicate you need to rethink the structure of the site.
