Hey everyone.

Starting up a website where I'm going to offer free wordpress/static templates, myspace designs and twitter backgrounds.

Also going to run a blog with adwords along the sidebar. Might make that the landing page.

Second source of potential income will be a premium service for better content, like better themes, bespoke theme requests etc.

Not sure if this is the right forum, but any website owners out there, is it something you would be interested in?

Call it market research I guess :P

1. Make website
2. Give away free stuff
3. ????
4. Profit..........?

1. Give away free templates that uses footer.php hosted on your servers
2. Once template has been downloaded 100k times replace footer with one that displays Viagra popups.
3. ????
4. Profit.

You should setup a store selling VHS tapes, audio cassettes and copies of Encarta instead. To keep it a bit more current than Myspace designs yaknow?

Strong nostalgia pang from Encarta. Haven't even heard that mentioned in like 12 years. That was my go-to timewaster when dialup wouldn't connect :D

OP is retro.

Retro is OP.

I used to think I was badass with Encarta because I had an entire set of encyclopedias on 1 CD. It was integrated in my Office 95 right-click context menu, though whenever I right-clicked something to look it up, I had to put the CD in my CDROM because I didn't have enough space in my 380MB HDD for all that awesomeness.

It's not a bad business plan guys lol. Many other people are doing the same and making a killing. Just have good Adsense placements and have a good incentive for users to buy shit.

People from where I live would be still interested. Then again we still have to carry cold water from the well placed 300 yards from our village. Good luck bro.

What are you making the themes on? The Atari ST has superior midi support, but the Amiga 500 has kickass graphics, not to mention workbench. Get yourself a couple of external floppy drives and a 512MB ram upgrade and you'll be pumping out those free templates like a muthafucka! After you're done you can kick back with a couple of hours of jolly rogers cookbook or a bit of monkey island.

Hotmail wasted a lot of their time making free shit to give away, wonder whatever became of them?
