New Tracking System

I thought (and maybe this was just AM high school girl gossip bullshit) that bloosky bought 202 for the network and the assload of data they would have access too and didn't really give a shit about P202 as a product in and of itself.

The 202 network was nothing without the 202 name, which they established based on the tracking software they released for free, which 90% of affiliates used. They had a huge footprint in the affiliate game, making them attractive for a takeover. But don't give Bloosky too much credit - these are they same people that were at ASW about 50 people deep. Not the smartest company to say the least. They got the 202 name, but the real winners were Wes and Steven.

If facebook is so unreliable than I have a hard time seeing how you will get revenue out of a facebook tracking system.

Why would anyone else pay money for plug ins or however you plan on profiting from it if facebook is unreliable?

Honestly, I don't think you even know how to profit from it.

Its not just a facebook tracking platform. And by unreliable I mean that at any time facebook could slap affiliates just like google did

The fact of the matter is if p202 wasn't free, we wouldn't be talking about it because it would have died off long ago. The values in it are the ability to modify it and the knowledge your data is in your hands. There's a large group of people that wouldn't use a hosted version, even if it was vastly superior.

Those are the people who wouldn't pay for anything anyway, and don't matter as customers. Plenty of people, including myself, would have paid for it as, at the time, there were no alternatives even close.

It worked out for them though, so its kinda hard to go back and say they should have bee charging, because who knows what ultimate adoption rates would have been. If they could have used tight propser integration with rev202 (for example by not using hitpath in the first place) and given their affs advantages through that tracking integration, everything would have been a lot more valuable to all parties. To come up with a more concrete example, some "sales" data or quality could be shared back to the affs (even generalized to some subid range or some parting or something), so they would know how to optimize their traffic towards getting payout bumps, instead of the current system of affs knowing nothing and getting shaved / kicked off offers. Advertisers are very scared to share sales data with affs, so a network with good integrated tracking could obfusicate this to the point where its still useful for the affs but not a danger to the advertiser. Everyone makes more money and those affs have a serious advantage when buying traffic over affs on other networks. Now you are generating real value and using your tracking platform(s) as crucial component in creating that value . I think this is where the 202 guys were going before the buyout.

For automica's system, there may be some serious monitization opportunities in the app itself. Besides charging for plugins, have all those internet marketing eyeballs seeing banner ads and building his list could be very valuable. Just like in other software development, if you get people and companies with money using your shit, you can charge a premium for a lot of things.

TL;DR its hard to say if wes would have made more money charging for prosper, and there was a lot farther it could have gone.

They built the business to sell from day one, but goddamn I like the way you think. Big Brains in A².

Dead on. Eyeballs are what this whole business is about.

2 quick questions

1) Will it work on a windows server? We just tried to move t202 over to our main dedicated and realized it won't work since we have a Windows server.

2) I'm not sure if there would really need to be any modifications, but as you can see from the requests for the product sellers forum, there are a number of members on this site who sell their own products (real ones & e-books) and aren't necessarily affiliates.

I guess this is similar to direct linking in t202, but we have the ability to tag each individual page for tracking (For example: home page > product page > order page > checkout page > confirmation page). Sales funnel is different for each site, but being able to track where certain groups are dropping off would be extremely useful.

Updates?

At least let us know whether Jonny and Mr Green are paying you off because you are gonna make their $100/$200 tools obsolete. ;p

I know there's been a lack of update, this past week and this coming week are busy as hell for me with finals.

I'm still getting a lot done on the tracker and I created a list to keep whoever is interested updated on the beta release.

I'll release the beta download link to the mailing list first, so if you want to try it out I'd recommend getting on there. I'm still aiming for before the end of this month, but if not then at least during the first few days of May.

I've also uploaded a few more screenshots of a few different sections.

totally agree. i cant believe how great 202 is and the fact that it is free is freaking awesome. i would have gladly payed a nice chunk of change to use it though.... glad to see wes and others cashing in on their hard work

I've been working like mad on Lambda Tracker the past few days. I'm already past due on when I expected to do a release.

I'd rather get something preliminary out there instead of perfecting and perfecting and delaying release.

This is going to be a very early beta release, I just want to get a feel for what people think and go from there. I've been really surprised with all the positive feedback just from the screenshots and description.

Expect something very shortly.

So you're doing it for free? Maybe you should take a book out of Steve Job's page... and stop being such a freetard
