Quick question for the experienced -

I finally upgraded to a VPS (via Volsh). I am going to move a dozen or so Wordpress sites over there to start with.

There's a lot more latitude of course with a VPS than with my old crappy shared hosting. So -

When you guys do multiple Wordpress blogs on the same site on a decent VPS - do you configure on shared MySQL db? Or do you do multiple DB instances?

I'd like suggestions here please.

if you do multisite you can create a new table for each wp install within a single database, but like radio said, if something wonky should happen to your database then you're gonna get wiped out across the board. My host allows unlimited db's so i always do a new db for each install. I find it easier and if one gets corrupted or otherwise ruined my other sites are still OK.

If you are doing a direct cpanel to cpanel transfer just leave it alone and use the existing structure.. Will save you a lot of hassle. Plus any VPS worth its salt should be able to handle the databases.. plus seperation makes for easy backups and parting them out if you need to move one or 2 for some reason.. Just use the real time chat on Volsh and I am sure they will help you out.. I know they will ...see my sig
