Ok, my head is spinning.... I have been browsing through the threads here and just way too much to take in and try to see what can and cannot work for me.
Hell, I may even be in the wrong place completely, I don't know. But,
here is my problem:
I have a website that just fired up a month ago. I want to set up affiliates and am paying 20% per paid account. Have signed up for comm junct, but one year and all of that stuff.
Can anybody here help get going?
Here is my site for reference:
NO.
Appreciate any guidance, comments etc.

20% commission is fucking weak. gotta remember that affiliates will advertise for you.

Mobo you're not in the wrong place. Just hang awhile like everybody else. It'll soak in.
Thanks Air, appreciate that.

Garrett: My pricing model and commission is mid-high to high when compared to "similar" sites.

mpbiz: We do a good job, but we are not miracle workers!

AffAholic: Just some numbers. Been on line since 4/16 of this year. We have a little over 1,600 paid accounts. Average account is for just over 51$. We are changing over the billing to a merchant account next week, I hope to cut the gouge of PayPal. I'll let you do the rest of the math.
As to the business plan, I do have a few years in experience, the last big one we took a start-up from just about nothing to being sold to a large French company for 64 mill in 2007. In four years we turned a profit in one quarter only.
There are four of us working on it now. We also have a silent partner who is my investment banker. His clients included me in the past and monster. He advised them for several years so has a good feel for the market.

Mobo do you think a video resume would help my girlfriend get hired?

Please don't take your life mpbiz. It may seem like things are tough and things will never get better. A positive attitude is all one needs to keep their head held high.

The site is very basic now. It has been tested and we think the bugs (most) have been worked out. We are working on the next "new and improved" modern site, soon. Our focus currently is the ER-ATS portion. We are working with one of the largest recruiting firms in the world to provide the necessary back end for the commercial users of the site and are testing it now in this area. It is hosted with another host and will be going live sometime in the next few weeks. This will be a low profile operation with only a few dozen commercial accounts and no access for the general public.
Due to limitations, security, business users and so on, there will be no flash and other "bling". It is working and we are doing very well for a start up. This is not my first foray into SaaS, but it is the first time I have investigated the possibility of affiliate marketing.

I appreciate the intelligent comment. The rest gives me pause to re-think whether I need to.
