Newbie Warning

If you have not managed to come across some of the valuable threads in here, let me give you a word of warning and one thread that you absolutely should read. I forget the exact name, but do a search for math. The discussion is about how to calculate whether or not an offer has the potential to be profitable.

If you are willing to do just SEO and have alot of patience that may be fine. If you want to do ppc, you must look at not only keywords but at their costs. I have an offer that pays $45 per sale, but their conversion rate is only 1% with highly targeted traffic. That means if my keywords cost me 0.45 each I will break even on the campaign, but make nothing for my efforts and expense of creating the site and doing seo work.

Since this offer is in the medical field, finding keywords below that rate is very difficult and who knows if those inexpensive keywords will convert or not.

So do a search for math and read the thread.

Well build yourself a landing page and improve conversions, deep link to the order page if possible, your not seriously relying on a merchants LP to convert are you?

One of the main reasons merchants have affiliate programs is because they can't convert people for shit.

If you don't like math you can just stick to a simple overview,

IN - OUT = Profit
If Profit > IN = You're doing something right

Thanks sticks79. I am still learning the ropes. I wrote this because I now understand some of the problems better. Sometimes the advertiser won't let you send them to another page. In this instance I think the problem is too many options that are confusing. Lots of people don't want to work that hard to figure out which option they should purchase and the field is probably very competitive since most of the keywords over over $2 per click according to Google's estimator.

Now that I thought about it a bit more, it really pisses me off that they run pay per click campaigns and spend a dollar or more per click, and don't pay me enough to be profitable at less than half that cost. The networks and AMs take the cream and the affiliates get the crumbs, no wonder it takes alot of testing to find some money.

it must be the networks fault that you are paying $1+ cpc

Seriously, stop doing affiliate marketing. This comment just proves you don't have what it takes to be an entrepreneur.

Hello friend,

I no think analogy you say is correct. Most affiliate network no take more then maybe 30% or sometime 40% of what advertiser pay.

Affiliate marketing is form of risk transfer for advertiser. They transfer risk of find good form of advertise and what keyword convert good and make profit to affiliate.

If advertiser know already where best place for advertise and all keyword that good and make profit then no have need to allow affiliate to do ppc marketing for product of their.

They can do self and have better margin of profit.

Since you willing to bear risk of try find which keyword convert good and make profit you also bear risk of lose money.

It that simple.

Good luck bro

Okay Sumit, Now I am very Suspicious.

Analogy, Risk Transfer,

vocab is getting way better in a Hurry.

who are you really...jon? dullspace?

Hmmm....

Hi,

So my two cents would be, I agree build a better landing page with a higher rate of conversion, or better yet since they have so many offerings (options), build one for each offering, target keywords to that direct offering and send them to the corresponding LP. Your conversion rate should go up.

Also if your just breaking even, try to find no-cost ways to raise that, like maybe add a simple email a friend button on your LP that sends there buds, who you didn't have to pay for, a quick note and link to your LP.

Yes, Sumit. You're slipping. Don't forget to mangle grammar, bro.

What kind of results pages are people using? You know, the landing page after the client has clicked through the payment page. I assume you throw them another offer or two, and wondering if this is top secret info.

Some of you didn't get my one comment. The advertiser is paying $1 per click, not me. I am not that stupid. In other words they will give Google $100 for a sale, but only give affiliates $45 per sale. Does that make sense?

As far as not having what it takes, fuck you. Nobody has an easy time with aff marketing at first.
