@everyone:

So, update me... What have you learned so far? Where are you getting stumped? Is it easier / harder than you thought? C'mon folks, let's hear it!

I've made $32 so far on my first sale, but I'm still running a deficit due to the cash spent on AdCenter and AdWords.. I've spent about $46 on PPC advertising... The results are pretty disheartening because my CTR are so low.. (below 1%) and I'm not getting very good conversions. aghhh a lot of my keywords on adwords ahve poor QSs, so i updated my website and tried to include more of the keywords, which subsequently improved a few of them to OKAY..

Well I've been doing quite well until this week and my campaign took a bit of a dump...

My main problem is that I can't get my ads CTR (6% ish) high enough to get my bids down, should I stop trying for the top 3 spots and make do with lower positions? I think I'm trying for too generic keywords but the things is that they are converting!

I know I thought so too but google doesn't seem to think so! Sounds like my LP needs more work to make the most of high bids.

Google's QS is a tricky bird. CTR plays a part, your landing page plays a parts, outbound links on your landing page play a part, keywords, etc, etc. Even when you think you've got it down, something changes. Also, you may be stuck with high costs on your keyword for a period of time before Google decides to drop them for you. Time based. Welcome to the Google Dance (technically Google dance refers to SERPs changes, but it's appropriate here as well).

Question about SEO on a site...

Lets say I have a review site..."Widgetreviews.com" and it is wordpress but for the most part it is a one page lander with the reviews and outgoing links to the offer.

If I were to create a second wordpress installation in Widgetreviews.com/blog and put a link to that in the footer of my lander, and start making relevant blog posts there, does that satisfy google as far as QS? or do i need to have links to specific blog posts ON my lander?

For SEO purposes, start with a "real" site. The more information, the better, then create a landing page on that site and use it just for that. That will not only help with SEO, but with QS. Google's not stupid, they'll figure out that "WidgetsWebsite.com" is a "real" site and "WidgetsWebsite.com/reviewpage.html" is part of that site. Google has said over and over that they want sites created for the users and not for the creators. Meaning: if you create a website with the benefit of the user in mind, such as good info, links to other related sites, internal links to related material, etc, you'll go far.

Thanks so much Mike for helping me thus far, and for offering more help tomorrow!

Truly appreciate it! :)

That's basically what I have done. Should I cross link them at all?

Choose one platform to start off with. I know that AdCenter is getting a bit more competitive but then again AdWords can be a bitch to get down quickly. The choice is yours. Just choose one, use the data your getting and optimize your campaign until you start making money.

The weird thing is I'm using the same keywords for Adcenter and Adwords, but I've gotten wayyyy more clicks through Adcenter than I have through Adwords. I also like the template of ADcenter much more; it's easier to navigate and modify things, as well as several ads at once.

I think I'm going to stick to adcenter for now. By looking at tracking202, I've noticed that the majority of my clicks are through bing.com, hence Adcenter.. I think bing.com is gonna be pretty substantial from now on because of all the commercials.

BTW, is erect still offering his keyword's services? I think I remember seeing something say that he was only going to do it for people up until a certain date, but I can't find that post.

Well, my campaign has only been running for a day but so far here's what I've got:

4% CTR from Adwords to LP
20% CTR from LP to offer
No conversions

I suppose that I just need to wait for more clicks. I guess I was just hoping for at least one sale. I just need to be patient.

This is harder than I thought it would be. Since I am an extremely meticulous person it took a full 10 days to get this campaign off of the ground because I was so obsessed with getting everything "perfect". I need to learn to just put something together quickly and see what it does realizing that I can tweak over time.

I am also starting to realize how serious the veterans were when they stated over and over that you WILL lose money in PPC when getting started. It's not that I thought they were lying, but I'm really seeing now that my AM education will NOT be free.

Dont sit back. You need to get your LP CTR much higher (atleast 65%). Are you split testing?

I have 3 LPs, but only one is currently getting any traffic. But on the page that is receiving traffic I am testing different variations within that page. I am trying things such as geoip, and keyword insertion into the headline.

My click volume is quite low so I thinking testing is going to take some time...
