No Excuses 3 - Official Thread

When I joined WF I knew virtually nothing about IM. You wouldn't believe the amount of time I spent just googling acronyms in the beginning.

I eventually managed to build several niche sites, and have learned a shit ton more than I thought possible over these last several months.

And it just hit me after watching the NE3 niche/domain name video, that I understood. every. fucking. word.

See, this is exactly what I've said before. At some point, you're going to have an epiphany of realization. "Holy shit, I already knew that!". Afterwards, your confidence will soar and you'll be on the wings of an eagle.

Oops, I took it too far again :evil_laughter:

Congrats imincognita!

Damn... am I really too late?

Never too late. The contest portion hasn't started. And even if it had, you can jump in at any time.

Mike,

Great video. I, too, realized I knew a ton of that already. For as much time as I've spent reading, I should be making BANK by now. Instead, I've barely made a few hundred bucks.

I do have a question, though. You mentioned you generally start with a small keyword list. What do you consider small?

Also, would I be correct in assuming Ad Planner would be good to pull domains to bid on since they are targeted to the demographic? And do you just bid on www.weather.com, for example? Or variations of that URL?

Thanks for the vid and related info...I hadn't checked out Ad Planner before and it looks pretty sweet. It's scary how comprehensive and all-knowing google is. Pretty soon they will open their own affiliate marketing company and destroy us all with their superior targeting skills.

They already have.

Small being small. Under 50 keywords. Maybe under 100. Basically something small enough to be manageable and not too many really broad keywords. By broad I mean, single word keywords that are not very targeted. For example, if you're slinging berriez, "acai" all by itself may be too broad, but "acai benefits" is more targeted and would probably be something to include on your list. That example is off the top of my head so don't add or discount either keyword before doing your research (if you're a berry slinger).

You must be expecting A LOT of questions.

Thanks! Changed the AM to PM. One hour, not 13. :D

How do you go about testing the keywords? I mean, even with only 50 keywords theres a very good chance you'll burn through whatever testing budget you have (be it $100 or $500) in a matter of hours. So my question is, do you test the keywords one at a time or..?

All at once. If you're concerned about burning through your budget too fast, start with an even smaller, more targeted list. The more laser targeted longtails will come up less often and usually cost you less per click. Also, if you set them to "exact" match, you'll get less clicks because the user must enter the EXACT keyword / phrase you have for your ad to show.

Discussion will be on how to generate Free Traffic (not necessarily SEO, but similar) and hopefully conversions.

Thank you very much. You are truly a great man for being so helpful. I don't have a microphone so I just listened in to this last one. Look forward for the other things to come.

That's strange...and all this time I thought Google hated affiliates.
That's probably WHY they hate affiliates :D Competition for their own network.

Thanks to everyone that visited the webinar today. Hopefully it was understandable. I'm not sure how bad my voice sounds right now with this damn cold, and I pray that my mute worked when I was trying to get the kids out of the room. :uhoh2:

Anyhow, don't forget about Friday's webinar. It's going to be a really loose setup, nothing formal planned. Just throw questions at me and I'll do my best to answer them.

Mike,

You say that you start out with only about 50 keywords in you campaign. A lot of other places I have seen say to start near a 1000. I understand that 50 kws is much easier to manage but is this really just a matter of preference?
