as a quick update to the above, VPS secured, website installed, starting to add content. need to decide if industry database of contacts is worth the hefty price tag.
 
I don't know what the "rules" are of this thing. Mike said fire away above with questions. I didn't know if that was about the challenge itself or about our specific projects. Heck, I think you have to be accepted into the n00b challenge as well - so who knows if I'm in or out or what - but I just thought I'd give an update since this post gave me the motivation to actually do something - and that something is build. I'm building a site, content, business plan, etc. And it's coming together fairly quickly. Amazing what a bit of concentration, determination, and limited interruptions can do for progress.

On the content generation side, let me reitterate what others have said - it's a lot easier to write about something that you are interested in - I've kicked out a few articles so far today and it's fairly decent stuff. Nice to get it out of my head and online. Now I can push it out and free up some room. I think that's a compounding problem of paralysis by analysis... your head gets too full and nothing else can enter, yet your not moving stuff through by acting to make room for new and better ideas. At least that was my experience!

hehe! Ah thats cool. After waiting so long (well not that long) for this project I didn't want to give everyone a head start :D

After reading the above comments, I'm not going to do phpbay though. As others have rightly pointed out, there are at least 2 excellent tutorials on phpbay already.

Okay, so things are a little behind. I know I said July 1st, but it wouldn't be Wickedfire if things started on time, right?

Anyhow, I'm getting things together today: domains, hosting, et al. And will get the thread going sometime this afternoon / early evening.

If you see me on AIM today, don't bug me, unless it's something life threatening. Otherwise, you'll just slow things down. :D

This is great. I've done blogs before with a little success and I'm thinking of going back to it as my current project (more of a web startup) is stalling. I like the Honda blog and the pinup site. Well, who doesn't like pinups? :-)

I'd grab a domain, but I've got a few of my own and some ideas I'm kicking around.
In a week or two, I'll know which direction I'm headed and get moving.
