yeah, I caught that right as I was leaving work for the day. I was putting random text in all the templates to see which one was being used andwhere. Looks like I forgot to remove it from one of them.

Did anyone see my two earlier posts about my stumbling my own site? Also, who wants to start the noobie stumble buddies underground network. I'm accepting applications now! Hahaha
 


:confused: Okay, I cant get WordPress to download right. After I save and open/unzip it, it opens everything as a Microsoft Digital Image Document. I can open the wp-config-sample folder with Notepad and change it, but it wont load through the ftp client. How can I get it to open in anything but MS Digital Image Document? Don't know if that makes sense to anyone or not.
 
CCLIND, it sounds like there is something wrong with your file associations.

Alright, I claimed Editorialize. I just threw up the splash page today (all custom). I will be editing the site live so please excuse any hiccups you may see. The service I will be providing is daily blog updates. I will hire a staff (qualified writers of course) to help me out with the service. It will offer something like 200 word articles posted 3 times a week for $50. Of course there will be tons of different packages available, but thats the gist of it. Any comments?
 
Alright I'm done for tonight. 3:30AM is rolling around, and I have shit to do tomorrow. After several hours of designing and coding (fucking hate coding) its done. Some basic content has been put in, but I'll probably change it tomorrow. Plans for tomorrow:

  • Finalize content
  • Work on contact script (can't do PHP for shit, so this should be fun...)
  • Master Freshbooks and BaseCamp
  • Post for hire ads to try and get an employee or two

Then after that I'll go over everything 2 or 3 more times, go through the ordering process myself, and open the doors. Any suggestions about the site or the product would be greatly appreciated. As of now, nothing is set in stone.

wordpress is a collection of .php and template files. you can open them all in notepad for editing (I prefer vim) you then ftp them to your web server using something like filezilla
 
BlueMendicant, I get that, but it still saves as MS Digital Image Document, which is causing the problem. What other program(s) would be useful to open with? I dont know Windows OS for shit, but I can usually fumble around to figure out most problems. I could just have Mike or someone else install it, but would like to figure out a solution as well.
 
Send me your login details and I'll upload it for you. You will also need to create your db and the user for that db. After that, you have to use cPanel to add the user to the db with full privileges. After that you just go to your site and WP starts the install process. I can have WP installed in about 3 minutes. I can even have several installations of WP installed in the same DB in about the same amount of time. :) hahaha

Anyone need their WP installed, PM me. Anyone want to donate some money to my cause? hahahahaha Just kidding. Free help with the server for anyone in this thread.

Nice one on the help. Im slogging away at this... content is now up. Ive made changes to the pages on the site - tweaking content and tags - any ideas on how i can get g to revisit my site.

It cached it on 26th May but i cant find it anywhere in the search results pages?

Did you install Google Analytics? Ever since I installed, they've been to my site almost daily.

I also submitted hit Technorati, Del.icio.us, and stumbled my site too. :)

I just got finished adding about 24 pages to my blog. Check it out guys and let me know if it 'works'. Basically I added pages for each 'generation' of Honda Accords. Then I added a page of Ebay links with the 'generation pages' as the parents. That way, when the page links show up on the right side of the site, you see the generations then the particular years under them. The 'generation pages' also have links to the individual 'year' pages for some good internal link action. :)

Am I on the right track here? I also published all the ebay pages on different days of the month.

Would buying 100 directory submissions from Red_Virus be worth it at this point? << Please answer this time. Not getting a lot of answers lately. hahahaha
 
Shitttt, just deleted style.css on my site by accident and I didn't have a backup. So a 2 hour delay is now in order. Just what I need. And its fucking hard trying to make a custom contact script when I have no idea what I'm doing with PHP haha. I might just hire someone to do it.
 
why a two hour delay. Just upload the css from the install package you have. Easy, easy. Was is a theme you downloaded or one of the default ones?
 
It was something I made myself. But everything is back up now. I had a copy of the file that was half way done on my hard drive, and I knew exactly what I had to do, so it was straight forward. I'll send you a PM detailing what I need about the contact form.
 
Paid a friend of mine $20 to do the contact script. I'm now finalizing the sales content, and working on the ads to find some employees. Let me know if you're interested in a small part time job ;)
 
Ok guys, I am about to pay Red_Virus for 100 Social Bookmarking DoFollow links. However, I suck at this since it's my first time.

Can you guys have a look at my site and point me in the right direction for writing a description? 250 words or less. How do you guys usually write a description?

Maybe if someone can just help me get started. I don't want to waste my money on this with some bad verbiage. :)
