Fantasy Pinup Art is starting to come together.

Very nice! I love the header, and color scheme. You've really captured the feel of pinups (IMO)! Keep up the good work.

JamesH - Editorialize looks good, have you started to advertise it? Your rates seem very reasonable too, almost low even.

amateursurgeon - Love the falling snow effect. Not entirely in love with the dark colors though, it seems a little....um, dark for Christmas. Although, it does look cool. Hmmm...I guess it goes well with Santa's night time ride though and bedtime stories. Something to keep in mind. You may want to play with the color scheme once you get some traffic to see if it affects conversions.

Mattgatten - your trade in redirect is super slow. Just something I noticed, not a big deal. Overall, you're on the right track.

Everyone - Overall I'm very impressed with these so-called n00b websites. You all apparently have more skill than you realized. Now, let's talk traffic and link building.

Here's a great resource for social sites: List of Social Sites » Hybrid Search Engine Marketing | SEO Consulting to Help Rank Better

Social sites are great for links as you can place the links yourself, and many of the sites also carry a decent amount of trust with G. I'm sure this is not news to anyone, but I'm a big believer in sticking to the basics.

Another method for traffic gen / monetization was covered by Seocracy in his blog: Make $50 dollars a day with Google Custom Search - Seocracy.com

Actually Rob (Seocracy) covers a lot of great ways to get links / traffic. Read his blog. If your brain melts, it's okay.

Generating Traffic in 23 days...?

Thanks again for offering to let me use the domain name Brutal Honest Review of Forex Killer (innovative idea to choose the Spanish spelling) and host it for a month. Rather than become one of the many that never does anything with an opportunity like this, I’ve created a landing page and uploaded it (very traditional). Now I just need to drive traffic to this site quickly to beat the 30-day make money deadline.

Any suggestions? Articles would take too long to beat the deadline. Pay Per Click?

I'm considering shifting the focus of my site from Pink Apple MacBook to more general pink themed electronics - including the MacBook of course. I'm finding an interesting array of pink electronics from Amazon that I could promote.

Any suggestions about my layout or anything? I can handle constructive criticisms on all counts... honest ;)

By the way - thanks SEO_Mike for those links.

Ok 'fellow noobs'. This is for you guys. It's just a few observations that I made in my PPC experiments. Mike and crew, correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.

I had found 'what I think' is a good price on my keywords. I found a nice offer with a high EPC. I wrote my ads and everything is going good. I'm averaging 21 cents a click to my landing page.

I decide to add a couple more keywords in some other areas (different manufacturers) to see if I can get some more clicks going.

All of a sudden, all 20+ keywords go inactive because my bid is too low. What the fuck? Is google raping me or something? I only had generated about a dozen clicks and my CTR for search was .20. (decent right?).

So, I did something 'novel'. I read what google was telling me to do to get my the keywords active again. Increase bid(bad idea), Improve quality of keywords (these are the keywords I want to use!), or improve the quality of the ad(hmmmm).

They say to put your keywords in your ads. I went back and made a few tweaks to the ads, changed my keywords back to what the were. I've now got Honda in my ads some where. Some say Honda Accord. I ran back through the estimator and holy shit, they were back down to the cpc that I wanted.

I just wanted to share that little (probably trivial piece of info with the noobs) nugget with you other noobs. I actually have learned a LOT by spending just a little money experimenting with adwords. You can get a vast amount of info for only 10 bucks a day.

More to come.

If it's search, your CTR should be over 1% (if I remember right) or else Google thinks your ad sucks and they penalize you by charging you more. Work on your ad copy. Another thing, if you are sending users to the page that redirect for trade in values, that could be another cause for your jump in CPC.

Lavish - you're welcome. BTW, both of those links are to WF members blogs. Joe Whyte runs HybridSEM and Rob runs Seocracy. For more member blogs, check out Emp's sticky of "must reads" in this section.

Another great blog to read (that will also melt your brain) is Eli's (Deliguy) BlueHatSEO.com Talk about some cool shit in there!

<cheerleader>
I don't know if you guys (and gals) realize what a great forum you're on. The level of expertise and knowledge here is staggering. Stick with it, do some networking, and you'll succeed. And it will all be thanks to WickedFire :D

Well, mostly. I can honestly say that Wickedfire is the reason for my success, either directly through information I learned here, or indirectly through the contacts I made.
</cheerleader>

That makes sense because right about that time I switched from my landing page to a redirect. Shortly after they all went inactive. Lots being learned!!!!!! I just switched it back to a landing page. Can one of you take a look at it?

hondaaccordcar dot com / trade-in /

Yep, just doing it for a little while reveals a whole lot! Redirects are more costly than a landing page.

Yep. G doesn't like redirects or popups on the landing page. Still, you're CTR should be higher as well, play around with your ad text. You can run a bunch of different ads and G will rotate them and give you the CTR for each. Then just delete the shitty ones.

What's the payout on that offer? I'm too lazy to look it up. NVM, just did. $5.50. Why did you choose the trade in offer? Have you considered the extended warranty offer? From what I've heard it's a pretty solid offer - converts well. I've never run it, so I don't know personally.

Moving on, I took a closer look at your site, and it looks great! I love the way you worked in the parts / accessories / upgrades. Fantastic.

You should spend some time on SEO, there are a lot of searches for various Honda Accord stuff, Free Keyword Suggestion Tool from Wordtracker

Thanks Mike. Some of the best info I've gotten out of this thread in a couple of weeks. I asked a lot but I think they get lost some times. This thread can really get rolling. I used the Trade-in because it had a really high EPC. I think I read somewhere that folks look at that harder than overall payout. Remember, I'm still a noob but I have learned a lot since I started running a few of my own campaigns. It's like 'The Deadliest Catch'. I'm just running some 'prospect strings' then when I find the crab, I'll 'set the deck'. hahahaha

Here's yet another question. (hey, I'm taking full advantage of this opportunity)

Any suggestions on SEO?

I'm still trying to determine where my strenghts lie with all of this stuff. PPC, AM, Domaining, selling services, etc. In your experience, do people pay for sites that are built like this? Using mine as an example. I know it has virtually no traffic but much, much legwork is done and I pretty much didn't do anything that couldn't be seriously automated with scripts I have lying around.

If there is a market for prefabbed content and sites, what is the going rate?

Thanks for everything you've done here. If anyone needs any help, I'm here. Even after this event expires!

For a site as new as yours, probably not much (20-50) over at the site sales section of dp or sitepoint. If you want to game the system, you can probably get $150 from a site like this but you will need to raise PR (fake pagerank) & Alexa (gaming alexa) as it's what some people want when buying a site. Cheating here is easy (however sneaky and wrong), which is exactly why these metrics are pretty much worthless when guaging traffic or site importance.

Actual stats, incoming links & income are much harder, if not impossible, to forge. If you get the previous 3 things happening you will probably end up keeping the site as it will be worth more than whatever you ended up selling it for ($500+).

Thanks erect. That was just what I was looking for.

For example, I threw up my dad of twins site based on research I did. After 3 weeks it was a rank 4. This is a site I could have probably done pretty well with. I still haven't done any SEO on it or put up any real 'money making' type things. I keep the site around as a reminder of a 'small victory'. Some day, I hope I can do it consistently enough to maybe make money from such a thing. This past few weeks in this thread have really taught me a lot and I hope to put much of it to good use in the future.

I've probably asked way too many questions but you guys have been awesome at providing the info. I'm just trying to get folks talking and make some contacts for my future projects. I'm more of a coder/automator than a designer, ppc, am type guy. Ideally for me, I think a partnership down the road is necessary for me to make any real cash. (sadly).

Thanks again,
Matt

I've added some content to santaradar.net - have split my story up into chunks, with it posting every 2-3 days. Not much adsense in there, at the moment, I just want to get traffic to it. I'm going after one keyphrase only: "santa radar"

Hey surgeon, I'll give ya a link if you give me one. I have my side dadoftwins that would be relevant. Kids, Santa. They go hand in hand! Let me know.

Halfway Point!

Okay guys, it's approximately halfway through your thirty days. Most of the accounts were setup on May 20th, so it's been 15 days since.

Overall most of you have done really well getting sites set up and some of you have even made some cash. Congrats to you!

Unfortunately, there are 8 that have done nothing and are in danger of losing out. Here's the list:

IGOURMET.ORG - xraymikek - 500 error
MUTTUALFUND.COM - morgantrader - nothing
REALSTUDENTLOAN.COM - netpwnage - nothing
THECELLULARSITE.COM - hazzan - Joomla install, nothing else
TOPLOCALDOCTOR.COM - tyler03 - nothing
GADGETLAB.INFO - patrick24601 - WP install, no config file error
LOCALBANKSEARCH.COM - CCLIND - WP install, no content
PROSEOTOOLS.NET - blueRAP - nothing

If you've been reading this thread and want to get involved, here are 8 domains that will be available if I don't hear from these people in 3 days. Meaning they have to post in this thread what they have done with their sites. No mercy guys, you have 3 days to get something going or you lose out.

If you've been paying attention, I just added myself to the list. Since nobody else wanted Transformers2009.com I'll use it to build a phpBay site and see if it can make some money in the remaining time we have left.

I'll update you as I go.

BTW, I believe that newbie2008 with ProdamiPhone.com is leading the pack with about $29 in revenue so far. Congrats man!

Hey Mike, I've got a guy working on my LP, should be done within a day or so. Hopefully I can get a campaign going before this week ends.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Re: Halfway Point!

Hey Mike, Well I want to give you guys an update. I've started putting up content on Fantasypinupart.com. Slowly but surely the content is coming along. I'm trying to make the content look "natural" in growth. I've heard that Google gets wacky when all of a sudden, there's like 30 posts in one day.
I got a few hiccups along the way from the template I was using. I hated the adsense plugins. And they didn't work. Then came to find out that the template was so custom out of the box, that it wasn't allowing any ads to show up in the sidebar, if there was an ad on the single post php. That was a pain figuring out. But I'm glad I did it. It taught me a lot. I would have asked you guys, but that's what Google is for, right? ;)
I've also started posting to web 2.0 sites today. I registered brand spankin new accounts on like 25 of them today. I'll be posting about 5-10 a day to build up traffic from those. Thanks for the list of social sites. I'll add those to the mix. Stumbleupon sent me 4 uniques today. So I'll be hitting social marker heavy for the next few days.
Fantasypinupart.com is #1 in Yahoo (woo hoo, snore....)for the exact name of the website:"fantasy pinup art". they sent 6 uniques today based on that keyword phrase. Hopefully with the social bookmarking stuff and the additional daily content, we'll see a daily increase in traffic and ranking in Google in the next 72 hours. I'm going to be digging deeper into my keywords and building up the organic search side of it. The goal I have for the next 2 weeks is a consistent 200+uniques a day for every keyword phrase.
To date Fantasypinupart.com has made a woping .12 cents in adsense. Not bad considering there was no real content up there and I never promoted it till today and adsense was all jacked up until this afternoon. This is the result from 2 channel test I was running. The page impressions are totally off, cause thats me, testing. I've only had 500 page views. 207 unique page views. So about 1 in every 125 page views gets a click
Page impressions Clicks Page CTR Page eCPM Earnings
1,038 2 0.19% $0.06 $0.06
493 2 0.41% $0.12 $0.06
Totals 1,531 4 $0.12
I went to sign up with copeac, but they turned me down :( So i''l be hitting adbrite, azoogle, etc tomorrow after more content goes up. Any suggestions on that guys?
Oh and that seocracy.com link...man that's gonna keep me busy. That may have to wait for the weekend for a full read...I gotta get more content up... yeah...more boobs... :D
~Atom

Well, my site sucks and so does my content. =) I've had 1 click on an add but google didn't give me a penny for it.

What are your thoughts from moving away from a wordpress page to a landing optimized just to sell their CD from amazon? Is it possible to find ringtones for a specific song?

Well, I posted up 2 for sale threads offering my service on DP and WF. I had one person interested in it on WF, but nobody purchased it. Not quite sure what to do now...

AtomBoy - send me the email you used to sign up with Copeac and I'll talk to my AM to get you approved. Otherwise, it sounds like you have a good plan, just stick with it.

JamesH - try offering a free review package for a senior member at both places. Often people won't do shit until they can see that someone else has tried it with some success.

BlueMendicant - why not use WP to practice making a sales page? You could do a review of the album and why it kick's ass. Then have another post about the band members, where they came from, etc. Also, do some SEO and try to rank for your band's name. Ringtones - ask your AM if they have a list of ringtones for the different offers. If they do, then they should be able to answer that question.

Alright - update time for Glitter Graphics - FREE!

To date I have made a whopping $1.46.. not going to change the world is it? lol

Anyway - all rev has been via adsense. CTR on adsense is between 25-37% which I am happy with - the only problem is the rev per click is terrible - $0.08 - $0.17.

At these prices I would need mega traffic to get this really rolling.

The NB ads are getting clicks - about 10% CTR - no conversions.

On a happier note - I am on page one for Glitter Grafix search results.

All my pages are indexed - Analytics is showing some traffic from really longtail terms

Myspace layouts Dance anyone?!!

How can I scale this? What do I do to keep moving forward

70 uniques, 120 impressions (55% from organic) to date. So have to factor in WF visits..

Cheers

Dave
