'no text links' question

I see the above sometimes when setting up an offer. Does it mean I can't use the raw affiliate link to post the promotion on an offers page? Does it have to do with search?

The logic behind this must be to force the affiliate to use the advertiser's banner.

Yes, this might be the theory to force affiliate to use banner ads but i don't know why would they put that rule in force. Text link can be much useful than banner ads.
