What's the industry term for affiliate programs being run by the merchant and not a network - just 'direct to merchant'?

For example, Joe owns a website that sells small model rockets and calls it JoesPocketRocket.com. He also has an affiliate program he runs using Post Affiliate Pro or iDevAffiliate.

Does anyone promote these as a primary program or what percentage of your overall efforts are central to these types of programs?

They're maybe 25% of my overall income.
Just make sure to call them and make sure their affiliate program is active. Sometimes its software that's just auto included in their package and they never really set it up.

The term that I'm familiar with is "in-house affiliate program". Direct-to-merchant actually refers to sending traffic to an affiliate link from PPC without an intermediary landing page.
