Noob in SEO asking for advice, Guidance

Hi all
I am starting a blog relating to finance/tax niche , and to gain visitors planning to do some seo stuff.
As iam new to the seo please guide me and suggest me the way to go ahead.

As of now thinking of the following
20 yahoo answers+100 posts in PR1-PR6 for 3 links i.e.,300 links
will these help?

Am i heading in the right path?
iam looking for atleast 1lakh hits every month.
Any other service that i should use to achieve the targeted hits?

I am running on tight budget so please suggest something pocket friendly.
The blog as of now contains 27 articles relating to finance and tax.

Your reply would help me a lot.

Although everyone seems scared to death of it d fashioned article marketing and web 2.0s should be thrown into the mix. Blog commenting still works asong as you find low out bound link threads.

That sounds good, just make sure you do not link the same text in each article or in each link you create. Have at least five different anchor text statements you link.
 
There's only one way to know, try it out and monitor your results to see whats working. If you're not getting any movement with that, try something else out. But remember to diversify your link building techniques and utilize social networking. Social Networking is huge in gaining traffic and establishing your site.
