Offline Affiliate Marketing?

My "day job" is in sales, and involves me talking to a lot of ppl. Now, I'm wondering if it's possible to combine the offline leads i get, with online affiliate programs.

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]If I was to go and do some sort of print out of the required information and collect it offline like this, and then upload it to the company - surely as it stands, one IP address putting X number of applications/leads thru one affiliate link would not only look suspicious, but would get me booted out.

Does anyone do this? Or know HOW to do this? I had thought of getting signed up with vodafone/someone on a mobile internet contract, and just bringing my laptop with me - but that brings up the IP problem again doesn't it?

I know i could just hand out fliers and direct prospects to my website and go that way - but if i've got a hot lead in front of me, it would be madness to just let them walk off with a piece of paper with a url that they might/might not visit - never mind complete.[/FONT][/FONT]

Offline lead generation for online marketing purposes can be done...

I do this at technology conferences when I have a limited amount of computers at my disposal.

First.. if you do have all leads generated via one computer you need to note in your affiliate account that all leads generated will be from the same computer/IP (special program/incentive) (obviously not incentive, but special program terms)

With what you state it looks like your going to try and fill the leads out yourself... thats the no-no most networks are not going to let you get by with. Your going to need to have a solid base of evidence that the USER is completing this offer, which is why most of this affiliate shit is run online, its easy to track information to make sure the leads are authentic.

Example-
I say Im signing leads through one computer only for an Ebay affiliate program.
In reality I use a catch all on a few different domains and start popping off a ton of accounts, then place low bids on shit I know I won't win. This in turn would give me credit for ACRUs

Be careful though, your network will most likely fuck you after you've done all the work and withhold payment.
 
Simple way to answer this. Call your affiliate company and talk to them. If you're legit and can convince them. Simple fact is as long as your data converts. They don't care. If you do this without their permission first. Don't expect on seeing a check. I will say you will be shocked on how many leads you put in that you never EVER get accounted for.

What I'd do is sign up for the affiliate program as usual and then ask for a unique voucher or code to print up and give to your leads. Eg Vodafone business via affiliatewindow always give things like free bluetooth headsets with certain contracts, and if there's one thing people can't resist it's a freebie.
 
I've always been trying to figure out offline marketing and I spoke with Mike (Mkrongel on Wickedfire) at Copeac and explained about all the leads coming from the same IP and he said he was ok with it just to let my AM know. I asked the same thing at Azoogle and they flat out said it wouldn't be allowed.

Offline, i work for myself, and a lot of the time i'm selling physical products in mall promotions. (You know the type, appears in a shopping centre for a week or two selling stuff, then moves on somewhere else.)

I'm thinking seriously about changing from selling physical products to services/leads. It HAS to be a lot less demanding on the biceps (or lack of).

Thanks Wiy for pointing me to popeye's threads - VERY useful to me, and most of it should be transferable to me, even tho i'm in the UK not the US.

Bill, thanks for the help too. I'd heard of special rules for incentives etc, but never heard the term "special program." At least this gives me hope that some of the affiliate programs DO allow this kind of deal.

I agree about the whole getting ripped off bit - that's why i asked about it here. And popeye's thread give me some suggestions how to get around this.

I used to manage a mobile phone shop, and we filled the client's info out onto a pad of paper with a form printed on it, then phoned their details thru to get the contract. This was where i was coming from by saying i was going to fill in the leads myself. I would collect the completed paper applications, and then process them in the evening.

I know a rep who works for Sky who works this way - but then again, he was employed by Sky to work this way, so it's unlikely that other vendors would want to work this way with an affiliate, not employee. (like the phone shop too)

Thanks for the reply ShitHappens, i intend to speak to my AM, but wanted to find out more about other people's experiences offline first to see if there was anything i should be looking out for first.
