I am normally resident on the east coast of Australia, and spend some time in States and Canada, but a large part of my professional activity is likely to target North American markets.

My problem is that I am trying to produce from outside the States, Google searches that completely ignore my actual location, and mimic a North American search - ideally with great accuracy.

Anyone got some suggestions for a babe in these woods? (metaphorically speaking - in reality 56Y male).

Maybe I'm being equally naive here, but doesn't

http :// www. google.com/search?q=keyword without the extra shit ignore your location? Maybe someone can provide the extra shit to mimic a US location??

Sponsored links remain the hassle

Thanks guys for that feedback.

Both appeared to generate good organic search, but the sponsored links remained heavily .CA infested (which is where I am at present).

I remain to be convinced that I am the only person with this problem.

if you have a server located over in the US and you have a .com then you maximize your chance of it getting locally indexed.

When you have a .com.au you will bias the results to the local market.
