Pagerank At-a-Glance

I noticed that there's around a billion sites out there that show you your site's page rank, but I've never found one that lets you create a list to show a bunch of sites at once. I also decided that I needed to learn PHP, so I killed two birds with one stone and created this script.

PR At-a-Glance, in addition to being the first thing I've ever written in PHP, is a self-hosted script that lets you add and remove domains from a list that shows the domain names and a pretty PR button next to them. That's about it so far. It's my first script, shut up.

Anyway, if you have a bunch of domains and want to see all of their PRs on a simple list, then you can download the script here. You can also see a live version here. Username is cgr, password is password.

I plan on adding a few things to this script in the future, like basic security against SQL injection attacks, and maybe a nicer looking theme along with the ability to pull other information like Alexa and Technorati rank. Feel free to suggest any features you'd like to see.

Ah, I just noticed that domains that don't exist give broken images. Thanks to whatever comedian found that little bug.

Didn't check the app as I do some pretty awesome things already scraping PR. But I figured I'd point out a few things to you and your downloaders.

1. If you have a big ass list of domains, you will want to work something out where the user's ip address calls google (javascript + toolbar?). Your IP will get banned after calling XX pages per second.

The other option you have is satellite scrapers. Basically remote .info domains on cheap servers ($1/year) that do the dirty work for your mother site. These servers/domains should be considered disposable.

2. Call me a lazy bastard but I'd just put .htaccess password protection on the script and call it a day. If someone breaks that sort id/pw system you probably have more things to worry about other than SQL injections ... like a compromised server.

Yeah, I had kinda hoped that people would only put real domain names in. It looks like a few people are already dicking around with the SQL. Like I said, this script is just bare-bones at the moment, and I'll implement security and error control later.

EDIT: I guess I don't put a whole lot of priority on security because this is not supposed to be a publicly viewable script. The whole idea is that you use it for your own reference and install it on some domain in a subfolder that people wouldn't think to look for.
