Pancake's PPV Journal

Minderwinter -

You don’t have to build a LP to get PPV to work . I have plenty of DL campaigns that work , It really depends on the offer . I really hate MT and DCPV . I will give you an example , I have an INTL campaign that is the same on both networks , For LI I have over 100 % ROI , For MT it is about ( 25 % ) . If you got the money TV is hands down the best , However they do lack INTL traffic and some niche is ultra competitive . LI – has a good mix and it converts well , I really like them for INTL offers , Adon is good also and cheap , however they lack traffic . Keep testing and when you find something that works , rinse and repeat and try to scale it .

Thanks for the info, buckeyefan. Wondering though, do you have any idea why the 100% ROI campaign would only work out to 25% on MT?

I mean, apart from the demographics, what's the factor that MT sucks in terms of conversions?
Or is it just the different demographics that just don't convert?

Don't really see the difference in installing screensavers/dl'ing premium wallpapers vs. whatever LI is using.

My guess is that Lead Impact doesn't completely saturate their end user with ads the way MT or DCPV do. Even though you can set your max impressions to one per day on both MT and DCPV, you are only a single advertiser. What about all the others who are bidding on terms and URLS? It's possible that the end-user is so accosted by ads that they just become completely inured to them. Perhaps LI is succeeding at walking the fine line between making good money selling ads, and keeping their end-users sensitized enough to be affected by them. This is just my hypothesis, of course. I have no idea what is actually going on with MT and DCPV.

The thing that you have to understand is that not all traffic cost the same , not all traffic converts the same . Some offers will convert better on some networks because it is a better fit IE , not all LP will look the same because each have different sizes . … For TV since user download Gamevance – offers that are related as such should be able to convert better because of the users . From my testing LI and TV just have better quality of traffic for the campaigns I run . I really think that the issue of DPCV and MT is for the most part where all the noobs start out and the end up getting into a bidding war and it makes it very difficult to make money . .002 can make the difference between making money and losing money .

Just got to keep testing and find something that works , Got to keep tweaking and Tracking is a must , And when you find something that is profitable or near break even you need to scale it , remember there are so many variables that exist. I generally will rotate between 3-5 offers , see which ones are converting , cut out the ones that are not , get rid of keywords/ URLs that are sucking up money ( I generally have 90 % URL to 10 % Keywords ) . Remember some offers convert better on certain times and days . ( Dating – For me converts better in the PM and Thur- Sat ) You need to analyze Stats etc… Don’t be too quick to cut off campaign , you need to get enough relevant data , However you don’t want to dump 200 in testing for $ 1.10 zip submit . This is where you need to go with Gut .

I weeded out the expensive ones and bid for the bottom position in the rest. If I'm not getting enough traffic - I'll up the bids.
This is the wrong mindset to have. If those targets weren't converting, do you think they would be bidding high on it? :food-smiley-010:

Agreed 100 % - however you have to be careful . What may be profitable for someone else may not be the same for you .

Holy shit this thread exploded. Awesome! Buckeye, your posts are a goldmine of information. Keep on spreading the word. ;)

Garret, I'm starting to see that in PPV, competition is actually a good thing. I blasted through $30 of cheap traffic with no results. Gotta change things up.

Right now, I'm direct linking a dating campaign with (minor) success. Not quite breaking even... but some there are some conversions. I'm going to take a word from Finch and start being aggressive in my PPV campaigns.

Pancake - are you also split testing the dating offers? I know there's a bunch of other shit going on, but I would suggest at least running 2-3 offers to start (especially if you are direct linking) to get a feel for what the traffic likes (if anything).

Don't leave money on the table!

If you guys have questions about TV (TrafficVance) and PPV in general, please hit me up - I'm happy to help where I can...

K, got a quastion here (wtf is a quation) do you guys actually steal successful campaigns?

Not like you'd answer truthfully cause that'd be company suicide but you know. Just wondering, not accusin.

so you already know the answer yet you still ask the question? nice.

The answer, of course, is no. We don't spy on your campaigns. We don't run campaigns. We make money when you guys make money, and stay with us... So, again, no....
