I would like to set up a phone number that will just play a pre-recorded message when someone calls it, and after the message is finished it will disconnect. Anyone know a site that can do this?

Anveo.com, if you ever plan on getting more complex than a simple message -> hang up. It includes a visual IVR builder that can do some fairly complex stuff, including text to voice, SMS, integrating with outside data sources, etc.

I've been using Ringcentral for a long time and they can do this. However about a year ago their Call Controller stopped working on my desktop even after an OS switch and I still can't get it to work. And also they just recently "upgraded" their user interface and its literally a piece of shit now and buggy as hell. When they upgraded they fucked up one of my most important numbers and shut off the voicemail which I had to reset.

I'm keeping it for now until I have time to switch everything over, but I'll probably be switching over to Twilio or something similar.

Ringcentral used to be good. Then, about a year before their IPO, they started cutting costs in a haphazard way...I assume to pump up the financials. They ruined a once great service. Avoid them like the plague. The new problems are everywhere...bugs, poor support, price hikes, removal of features, etc.

Better get a skype phone number. Activate unlimited incoming. Then under Tools->Options->Calls->Voice Messages record the pre recorded message. You can play the recorded message on any media player and get it recorded on skype by going to Control Panel (under windows) then Sound and then Clicking on Recording tab and disable Microphone and enabling StereoMix for timebeing till our recording on skype is finished.

Now you have skype Phone number which will act like how you need it. You have option to play recording after few seconds after calling or when you offline etc. Go check it.

DC Technology Website <- I use DC Technology, this guy has been in the telecom/PBX industry for 30+ years and knows every little in and out of what you can do, where you can fit ads into hold music/transfers, whatever. He's also super cool and you can ask him about running different campaigns without getting the 'why would you do that?' judgement.

Finally set up OpenVBX with Twilio last night and switching from ringcentral. Was alot less of a pain in the ass as I thought it was going to be and I'm happy to finally dump RingCentral. the only thing I noticed so far is the uploaded mp3 recordings are not as clear as the RingCentral recordings that I recorded with my phone. But I haven't tried recording through my phone with openVbx yet.
