When you pay for impressions your CTR is the most important thing in your whole campaign (traffic wise). Increase CTR on a CPM ad and you reduce your CPCs. A reduced CPC means more profits.

To answer your question about why are we all focused on the ad CTR instead of the conversions on the lander is that we are focused on both, but without a great CTR (i.e. low CPCs) we can optimize the lander as much as we want, but we wont get profitable if we are paying too much for the traffic.

Also a lot of people direct link, so are at the mercy of the advertiser for LP optimization.

I agree with you up until the "A reduced CPC means more profits". I've seen campaigns fail with 0.2%+ CTR's. Which is weird to me because I know a LOT of guys out there that would BANK on a 0.2%+ CTR. And alternatively, consistent ads run with < 0.1% CTR.

I challenge POF affiliate marketers to optimize for CVR's this week, no lie, I told this to 1 guy about 3 weeks ago that was wondering why his CVR went from 10% > 5% (he was direct linking) to use landing pages. Next day, he's up to 30% CVR using landers.

? That is just an easy way of saying "when POF's bid prices start costing an arm and a leg, your going to have to optimize your way past thousands of 14-year-old noobs."

That's a constant debate I have internally, and I know I'm not the only one.

Adding a landing page can help increase conversions, but it also adds an extra step. if a landing page converts at 30%, and then goes to the offer, which still has to convert, you've basically taken a 100% conversion piece (by not adding the lander) and decreased it to 30%.

At least that's how I see it. Please someone tell me if I'm looking at this wrong.

Hey Ben, how about putting the C/R of your ads next to the Conversions on the main page? Would be nice to get a snapshot of that info without pulling out the calculator.

My issue is that most dating direct links are pretty sign up pages but crap sales pages. So make a lander that... call out user variables/limited time offer should increase C/R.

Ben, another column that would be really helpful is a "CTR today" on the overview screen when we first login.

Even high CTR images die done eventually and we'd like to be able to monitor this easily, and add new ones once this happens.

Just a though,

Click your lifetime impressions on your dashboard for a campaign. The campaign report for your campaign on the next screen has a column showing your daily CPC and daily CTR.

it would still be nice to have this info available on the main overview page without having to click into each campaign.
 
I don't know how people make money direct linking dating campaigns. Well, I do, but the margins are just so slim.

From my experience, a good landing page will always convert better and provide not just a better ROI, but better traffic quality too.

I believe you can download to excel but no way to do it through the report itself.

In other news, super cheap 300x250's in Canada right now.. I just logged into my POF account and Google ads kicked in immediately. 26, Asian, Canada... which means there's $0.10 CPM traffic available!
 
Are "Sign Up Today" and "Join Now" no longer considered calls to action? Can't seem to get my ads approved these last two days.
