I am a self proclaimed noob to affiliate marketing, however I have been working hard to learn. I have gathered affiliates and decided to develop a site that offers credit cards. I have also signed up for Google and Yahoo for their ppc marketing with no success because of the competition in the credit card market. A couple questions:

1.) What should I do/learn to increase traffic and conversions to my credit card site. I am willing to learn.

2.) What is a good service for keywords for yahoo and google?

3.) What is your advice as to how to monetize this site?

Thank you and any help would be SERIOUSLY appreciated. Once again, I am a noob wanting to learn from the pros.

3.) What is your advice as to how to monetize this site?

Since you are targeting credit card subscribers, you should consider CPA offers. They usually have a very nice payout (upwards of $50) for every sign up.

Within these CPA offers, you could also promote Discover's Gas Card which gives the user savings on gas purchases. With the price of gas constantly going up, this is hurting a lot of pockers, and consumers are always looking to save money on Gas.

No offense, but you are in desperate need of a new design.
I wouldn't even look at what's on the site because it looks so unprofessional.

Site

Yea I know it looks like shit. It should carry a better design within the next couple of days. Obviously it is my first run at web design :bigear:

Nevertheless, what advice would you give to a newbie operating a site such as this? Thanks

maybe ur in the wrong niche for a noob....

don't just pick the offers with the highest payouts. Over the past 2-3 days i've been making more than $1k profit with an offer that only pays out $1.20....

Unfortunately you need to put some good content on your site and get it professionally developed. Online people are super paranoid, and especially with a credit card site your site needs to look top notch.
To be different from the packs of competition you could use some offline marketing. Maybe Blog about your exploits with each of the cards, what you did with each one eg: Went to Las Vegas Fear and Loathing Style etc if people are interested they might sign up for a card from you.
Check out Ling Valentine for some interesting tips, her website is so busy it gives me a headache but all the offline bbuzz she creates makes her a big income with no PPC spend.

A good PPC tool is efficient ppc and you will want to split test the ads with a service like winner alert to see which is the most effective ad. But my advice is dont spend any more money on PPC till youve got the site fixed up

Did you pick credit cards for any reason other than their payout? Also, in this day and age with identity theft, massive personal debt and deceptive interest rate offers... would you consider a site with the name "Sloopy" to be totally serious and legit?
