Hey,

I've been doing ppc a week. I am truly serious about it and it's my only way out of the cubicle.

My chosen platform is pof. My offer is a $40-87 payout CPA credit card submit free trial.

I use broad targeting to gather data. Just country, age range, gender, no mobile.

Set my cpm to the minimum. Woke up the first day and made $250 on $6 overnight. Rockin. Similar results the next day. At this point I had gathered data on who clicked the most, and restricted my campaign to those people. After doing this, the next few days I lost a couple hundred and had no conversions. I tried increasing bid for higher quality traffic and more traffic. Just lost more money.

I set my bid to the minimum again and removed the restrictions. Started converting again, but was making $50 a day and wanted to scale up to make tons.

Well these last few days ive gotten hundreds of clicks to my LP and over half of those hit BUY NOW which links to the offer page where they submit cc info.

But no one converts. Something funky is going on.

I've thought of 2 possible solutions and need a PPC expert's help.

1. Upgrade shared hosting to VPS. I'm running this offer overseas. Maybe it's loading slowly or not at all and killing my conversions? But it still doesn't explain why the half that make it to the LP an click BUY NOW back out at the last second. Does it??

2. Keep targeting broad and increase my bid to like 50 cents to get more traffic and better quality traffic than the residual junk I get at minimum cpm. Maybe doing this would get me enough conversions to actually have usable data and optimize from there? The downside is I would lose a LOT of money on that for a bit, and if nobody converted still, I'd be even worse off.

Any help?

My main thing I can't understand is, those 200 clickers at minimum cpm were interested right? Because they clicked. So what's the diff between them and a clicker at a much higher cpm? Is the higher cpm clicker more likely to convert? I Could understand them bring more likely to CLICK yes, since they're earlier in the browsing session etc. But to CONVERT? I have a hard time believing this

Are you considering the days you are converting and not converting?

For example, if you are converting on wednesdays, thursdays, and fridays, but not on saturdays and sundays, probably shouldn't run the campaigns on those days. You'll be surprised at the different reactions you get according to the day of the week and even hours in the day you run campaigns.

Look at the day, and see where the patterns occur. Also, it might be your landing page might not be right for that type of audience for that day of the week. It might be a better converting lander for saturday and sunday is needed.

AND, also don't forget holidays. I've got a site that always has the highest amount of traffic on weekends, but if a major holiday comes like Easter, that traffic will dive. Think about the mindset of people around holidays, days of the week, and don't forget to create a customer profile and really analyze the type of person that would convert.

Imagine the perfect person that converts, their age, demo, lifestyle, and hobbies. Then figure out what they are interested in. No matter how much humans think they are different, you can usually group them into segments and target them accordingly.

I agree with everything CCarter said. Timing can make a huge difference.

Also, a simple problem/solution could be an issue with the offer itself. I'd probably try rotating it out for the same/similar offer on a different network and see if that helps. Advertisers shave, switch out pages, and sometimes I think they just screw up coding and conversions get lost.

True, your advertiser could be shaving your conversions. Meaning, you are converting, BUT the advertiser is blatantly stealing the conversion by not crediting you. Welcome to the game dude!

Thank you both.

Here's to hoping no one wants to buy shit on Easter Sunday, and tomorrow I make up this $80 loss. Maybe I was just dumb for running it today!

I got this offer from my affiliate network, which is run by my best friend. I guess anything is possible but I don't think he'd cheat me. GAYCan the advertiser themselves shave leads? So that he and I wouldn't even know it??

I believe my strategy is on point, with the low cpm/high payout. And I think my targeting, while broad, is reasonable. So maybe you guys are right and I just need to let this thing run for a week or a month and assess. I'm just so ADD, I always get new ideas or want to make changes, ESPECIALLY when I'm at -$80 for the day.

If the owner is your best friend, talk to him, he'll most likely tell you that it's the quality of traffic tho as I doubt a "best friend" would shave... Either way, good tips on rotating the offer / day parting

Try a different advertiser with the same targeted offers with the same traffic. If that offer converts better, the advertisers is shaving at some level. Also, sounds like you've got an extra un-necessary middle man, your best friend. This is business, you might want to cut him out... after you get a better understanding of this industry of course.... ;)

Holy crap. I've been using the pof tracking system and my affiliate network. GAYSo pof says that 200 people a day click over to my LP, and my aff network says of those, 100 click the BUY NOW link that leads to the offer page, which of course is not hosted by me. GAYI just checked my prosper for the first time in days, and if I can believe it, only SIX people have actually made it to the offer page. GAYI just tried clicking the BUY NOW link myself and it took about 5 seconds to get from the lander to the offer page. GAYNow, this would be THEIR hosting being slow, not mine right? Or is it my hosting causing the slow speed? If its mine I will get a VPS NOW.

Why does every other sentence start with "GAY" in your responses? Anyways, it sounds like the travel through Prosper or whatever is causing the problem. If it's prosper, it might be an un-optimized database, or something else that is delaying the click. So yeah, your hosting has to be top-notch.

The fact that you didn't test this out yourself... I mean... Come on bro. This is day one shit. LOL. If there is a problem, always test it yourself. Also, test different browsers, and different operating systems. You might find that you might be on a Mac and everything is fine, but the majority of users are on Internet Explorer on Windows, and shit's all fucked up, or reverse. Always test, that's the main reason for browser compatibility tests, W3C validation, etc.

The forum is automatically inserting that into my posts. Must be some kind of hazing thing. GAYI paused my campaign and since I currently use the POF tracking system more than prosper, I got rid of the PHP redirects and hardcoded the affiliate links into my page to test. GAYThe hostgator sales guy said it was probably my PHP redirects causing it and recommended that I NOT go to a VPS. Hm. GAYWill update when I finish testing.

LOL... Well, it the forum is auto inserting that, the "powers that be" must think you are Yousif, Pace Lattin, or someone that's an enemy of the state - Or possibly a friend of that person who you let use your IP address/computer or something at one point. That would make the most sense, since you said "your best friend" owns the affiliate network which you are running your campaign through... So... yeah dude. Are you in connection with ProfitKingMedia???

Lol never heard of them but I personally think this is pretty hilarious. Website is fixed. Hope it results in conversions.

Haha. That "gay" stuff was confusing the shit outta me. I thought it was some IM terminology. I googled gayso and gayi. Good thing CC decoded it.
